She smiled up at him, and he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. When he eased back, he rested his forehead against hers as cheering and chatter surrounded them.
“I want to be your home,” he said.
Cadence couldn’t stop the tears as she lifted up on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around him. It was an I-love-you. He pulled her off the ground and hugged her so tightly, and she knew what he meant.
She’d told him he’d taught her what home really meant. He’d heard her. He’d listened.
Kru understood what she’d been saying.
Against his neck, she pressed a gentle kiss and whispered, “I want to be your home, too.”
