Others were getting up from their tables and heading for the front windows to watch the fight, or rushing outside after the crowd, but it wasn’t until she caught a familiar scent that she realized she and Landon weren’t alone.

Jenna held the door open for her, and she caught a split-second glimpse of Cadence’s back before she disappeared out the door.

“You’re doing great,” Jenna said supportively.

“W-what are you doing here?”

“Making sure Landon didn’t serial-kill you. We tracked your phone.”

“Um, okay? Landon’s getting in a fight, I need to help.”

“Oh, no need, the boys have it.”

“The boys?” The blood drained from her face. The boys. The Crew. Lucas the Warlander Silverback, Kru the Warlander Beast Cat, and Gunner the motherfucking Fury himself were out there in the middle of it all. Landon was smiling through a bloody split lip. So was Gunner, but his bleeding gash was across his eyebrow.

The fight was already in full swing, and there were so many more humans than she’d expected on Mohawk Dude’s side.

“We’re definitely getting arrested tonight,” Lucia murmured as she headed back inside to stop Danny from calling the cops.

He already had the phone up to his ear.

“Hey Danny!” she barked out.

“Yeah?” he asked, holding the phone to his chest.

She shook her head, and credit to the man, he understood. “Save the windows at least!” he said as he slammed the landline into the cradle.

“Nothing will get broken!”

“Lie, lie, lie,” Cadence called as Lucia joined her and Jenna on the edge of the surging fight. “Those boys are definitely getting broken.”

“No!” Lucas roared at Gunner out of nowhere. “No Changing!”

“Fuck this, I’m out!” Gunner roared back.

He shook a man’s grasp off his shoulders and strode for the woods behind the bar, mumbling something about how he never gets to have any fun, and Lucia was pretty sure that by “fun”, Gunner meant murder.

Landon became impossible to look away from, because he was apparently some freaking stuntman on fight movies who was a professional brawler. He just knew where everyone was, and he moved smoothly from one to the next like he’d been born with a pair of boxing gloves on.

“Your mouth is hanging open,” Jenna enlightened her, and Lucia snapped her teeth closed.

“Cops will be here shortly,” Cadence murmured, tucking her bleach-blonde hair behind her ear.

“I stopped Danny from calling them,” Lucia murmured, in awe of Landon.

“The humans called before Landon even came out here. They’re trying to trap you. Best we pull the boys off and leave before someone gets hurt.”

“Let’s go!” Lucas demanded, standing over a man he’d just laid the fuck out. “Kru, in the truck!”

“Hard pass,” Kru said as he sat on top of a man while pounding his face.

“Now!” Lucas ordered, and eeeeek, even Lucia staggered toward the truck. The order wasn’t even meant for her, but Lucas was growing his power.

Beside her, Jenna was also stumbling toward the truck.

“Not cool,” Cadence growled at Lucas as she pitched forward and began crawling across the gravel.

Lucia reached down fast and pulled her up by her jacket, and that’s when she noticed Cadence was wearing a black trucker hat and a mustache.
