“Violet, you’d better be kidding.”
I lowered my voice. “And if I’m not?”
“We’ll be home after dinner. You may not be cleared for sex yet but that doesn’t mean I can’t tease you until you scream.” He groaned. “You’re going to make me kill a bunch of innocent men one day, Vi. You’re playing with fire.”
“I’ll do my best not to flash any more handsome soldiers before you get home. I love you!” I hung up and turned around to find Joanie shaking her head at me. “What?”
“You’re awful to them. You tease those poor men nonstop.” She grinned. “Keep up the good work.”
I walked with her out of Doll’s and into Good, Clean Fun. “I had a secret doctor’s appointment yesterday. I’ve been cleared for sex. Dr. Morgan told me not to do anything too insane, but she said to just listen to my body, so I’m going to listen to my body sing my guys’ praises all night tonight. My parents are keeping Forrest and Delilah.”
“How are the guys going to handle a night without the baby?” She knew how much they hovered over both Forrest and Delilah.
“I plan on being naked in the driveway when they get home. They’re going to lose their minds.” I laughed at Joanie’s shocked expression. “No one will see me but them! And it’ll still have the desired effect of making them insane and distracting them from missing the kids.”
“You’re wild. I never would’ve known when you first showed up that you would be so off your rocker. You seemed so sweet and shy.” Joanie stopped with me outside The One and Only and glanced inside. “You know… When I moved to Lilyfield, I thought I’d escaped asshole men with asshole attitudes and asshole bodies.”
I followed her gaze and saw Chase sitting with two other men. They were business partners of his from what I could tell. They were all so private that I didn’t know anything about them. “They’re still bothering you about expanding?”
“About everything.” She saw Chase looking at her and flipped him off before turning her back to him. “If Ted Bundy asked me over to help him load his van, I’d do it over spending one more minute with that jerk.”
“Have you thought about asking Margaret for help? Or Coco? I feel like Coco would know how to handle them.” I watched her face light up. “Yeah, you go talk to them. I’m going to go home and shave every inch of my body.”
She sighed dramatically. “You have the best life.”
I nodded. “I really do.”
“No, you have the best life, Joanie.” She mocked me saying it back to her with all kinds of sass and then threw her hands in the air just as Chase walked up behind her. Her hand connected with his nose and they were both instantly at each other’s throats.
“Bye!” I hurried away to avoid another one of their fights. Personally, I thought they just needed to have sex and get it over with. That might’ve just been my sex deprived brain, though.
I decided to really mess with the guys one more time before they got home. I wanted them at the end of their control. I sent a quick picture of myself, still feeding Delilah, making sure to include people walking in the background. I didn’t say anything, but I didn’t have to. The top curve of my breast was out and I knew the guys would be going crazy.
Almost instantly, I got a text back from Ben.
You’re ours.
I sent him a response before slipping my phone into my purse and hurrying home.
