“Is there anything else before we head back?” Levi asked.

“Actually,” I said as I turned to face him, “there’s one more thing.”

“What’s up?”

I clicked my tongue. “I had a very odd vision this morning of Brody.”

He blinked. “What kind of vision?”

I shook my head. “I’m still unsure of what happened, but I saw him running through the woods. He was running, and then out of nowhere two bear shifters joined him.”

“Was he hurt? In pain? Did they attack him?”

“No, actually. They ran alongside him. He wasn’t in wolf form, but they were in bear form, and he was… smiling.”

His face fell. “Smiling?”

“Yeah, smiling. I mean, big-time smiling.”

“Are you sure about that?”

I snickered. “Absolutely sure, it’s why I went in search of him this morning. And just before the wind kicked up so badly that it knocked me clear off my feet, I found him heading north through the woods.”

Levi’s face fell. “You’re fucking kidding me.”

“Didn’t Brody emerge from the north during the attack?”

“You’re not saying—”

I held up my hand. “I’m not saying anything, no. What I am saying, however, is that it’s enough for me to be wary of Raven appointing Brody as alpha of this pack. Something is very wrong, and we aren’t staring at all of the pieces, and somehow? I think all of this has something to do with Brody being so willing to go find that fucking witch.”

“For the blood contract.”

I pointed at him. “Bingo.”

Levi shook his head. “Why the hell didn’t you say any of this sooner? Why didn’t you come get me this morning?”

“Honestly?”

“Yeah, I’d like some of that right now.”

I shook my head mindlessly. “I just… figured I had it wrong. It couldn’t have possibly been right. At least, until the attack.”

“Dean, you have got to learn to trust yourself the way Colin trusted you.”

“I know, I know.”

“You’re capable. You’re strong. You’re intelligent. And you aren’t responsible for anyone’s actions but your own.”

I groaned. “My power is a warning beacon, Levi. At least, it should be.”

He chuckled. “Then, use it that way. But don’t keep having these visions, stuffing them down, then finding ways to torture yourself over it. The only thing it’s going to do is get you killed. Understood?”

I chewed on the inside of my cheek. “Ready to head back?”

“Understood, Dean?”

I growled. “Yeah, understood.”
