He reached his hand out toward my face. “I can show you, if you’ll let me.”

My gaze flickered toward his hand. “What is your power, anyway?”

His smile was soft, even though his eyes were determined. “I can reveal the truth.”

“What the fuck does that even mean?”

“If you let me, I’ll show you. It’s a bit… hard to explain.”

I watched as his hand slowly crept toward me. “What are you going to do?”

He closed the distance between our bodies. “I’m just going to touch you like this.”

He placed one finger against my temple and the other against the side of my face. And the second all five of his fingertips touched my skin, my body lunged forward. He caught my face within the palms of his hands, curling all ten of his fingers into my skull.

“Hudson,” I choked out.

He dipped me down, supporting me with his thigh as he knelt down. “Just relax. It’s okay. Let me show you the man your father really was.”

“How—is this happening?” I asked as tears rushed my eyes.

He pressed his forehead to mine. “The pack doesn’t just have communicative thought; we also have memories. Memories that can be shared, just like communication in our groupthink. So, let me show you the memories your pack has of your father.”

My eyes rolled back into my head before the foggy haze of my tired mind cleared. A curtain pulled back, almost as if I were in a movie theater, and as I sat in the audience, I watched my father pull my mother into his arms for a bombastic kiss. The reel flickered, moving through Christmas memories like flashes of a camera, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Hi, Daddy,” I whispered.

I heard Levi’s father’s voice echoing off the corners of my mind. “I know you miss her, Alpha.”

My father’s voice rang strong and true. “I don’t know why she had to take my daughter. Why did she take my daughter from me?”

“It’s going to be okay, alpha,” Dean’s father said. “You’re going to see her soon.”

Dad shook his, and my heart broke for him. “I can’t even go visit her. The magic of Bend—the magic of our ancestors-keeps me in check. I can’t step outside of these boundaries, and her mother knows that. Why would her mother do this to me? I would’ve set them up in Portland. I would’ve paid for anything to have my daughter close. Why did she take her from me?”

“Daddy,” I choked out.

“Did you see her broadcast!?” my father exclaimed.

Brody whipped around and shook his head. “We were training new recruits last night. But let me guess, you recorded it?”

Dad beamed ear to ear with pride. “She did a six-minute segment tonight. She looked incredible. You can come over later and watch it, you’d be proud of her.”

Brody chuckled. “Seems as if you’re proud enough for the both of us.”

Memory after memory assaulted my mind, and yet they weren’t my memories. They were someone else’s memories, and the warmth that cascaded through my veins left me breathless. Dad had watched my broadcasts?

But just as quickly as the memories started, they shifted.

“She’s more powerful than she’ll ever realize,” Hudson said.

I watched as his figure faded into view, and I found myself standing in the middle of one of the chalets. As I gazed around the room, I found both Levi and Dean standing there with him. The three of them, sipping something hot from mugs while smiles crossed their faces.

“Do you really think she’s going to stay in town?” Dean asked.

Hudson nodded. “I know she will. She’s part of us. She’s family. And family is always drawn back to family.”

Levi sighed. “She’s not just a shifter, though. She’s half human. She’s got another side of her to reconcile.”
