I am speechless, and have no idea what to say.

“Please pay attention to your driving though,” he says. “I would not want this evening to end in tragedy.”

I look back to the road, discovering that I’m about to hit a pedestrian at a crosswalk. I slam on my breaks, my heart pumping rapidly given the circumstances.

The pedestrian scowls at me, continuing to walk forward into the night.

“It’s okay if you don’t want to,” he says, after I haven’t spoken for a while. “I know it’s a lot to ask of you.”

“Caspian,” I say simply.

“Yes?”

“You can’t spring this on a girl and expect an immediate answer. Give me a second.”

I think about it, considering how much my life has changed since meeting him. It’s been incredibly dangerous, but also so much more interesting than anything I’ve ever known.

I would be a fool to say no to that.

“The answer is yes,” I say smiling.

Things have been incredibly tense since my rescue. I had thought, for certain, that my being rescued would mend the tensions between Ren, Rory, and Caspian, but I’m finding that isn’t true. Rory has been texting me less and less, as I’ve opted to spend a lot more time with Caspian.

That’s why I’m inviting her over to talk. It’s the finale of Survival Island, and I purchased her favorite kind of popcorn - habanero flavor. I am deathly allergic to spicy peppers, so I know how much she’s missed out on it during our hangtimes.

I’ve got antihistamines ready in the event of a catastrophe. I’m just going to dive into a carton of cookie dough ice cream, I think.

She knocks on the door, and I let her in.

“Hey,” she says. “You wanted to chat? I can’t hang long, because the finale’s on tonight.”

I hand her the popcorn, and her eyes light up.

“What is this?” She asks simply. “Should you even be holding this?”

“I’ll be fine,” I say proudly. “Just have a seat on the couch, and we’ll talk.”

I turn on the show. Only Tate, Dominic, and Elizabeth are left, and there have been many wagers on who will survive. Dominic is by far the strongest of the group, but Tate’s got a real charisma to him, and there’s a potential romance blooming between Elizabeth and both of the boys.

“You didn’t bring me over just to watch a show, did you?” She asks. I can feel her judging me for eating plainly from the carton, but I really don’t care at this point.

“Just watch the show,” I reassure her.

“Is your vampire friend coming back? Didn’t he move in?”

“Just watch the show,” I say again.

In a surprise twist of fate, it turns out that Dominic was a werewolf the entire time. He pushes Tate off the top floor of the Empire State Building, and he lands on top of Elizabeth, who was watching in horror from the bottom floor, crushing them both.

Everybody on the street takes a moment to applaud, as the camera crew runs up the stairs to interview Dominic.

“There’s no way that wasn’t scripted,” Rory says, frustrated. “And when did they suddenly move the show to the city? It’s called Survival Island not Survival New York City.”

“Last episode,” I say. “Greg found a boat that got them off the island, but Elizabeth held his head underwater while he was sleeping and drowned him.”
