“You can’t distract me,” I insist.

His laugh rumbles through me. “You don’t think so?”

“I’m not screwing you in the woods,” I tell him, knowing even as I say the words that they’re a lie.

“We have got to get on the same page here.” He grabs my hips and lifts me with both hands, forcing my legs to spread and wrap around his waist. Even through the layers of our clothes, I feel the length of him hardening against my thigh. “What were we talking about? I think it was something about how sexy you look right now.”

Considering that I’m wearing a plain t-shirt and jeans, sexy is a stretch. But from the heated look in his gaze as it roves over me, his libido wouldn’t care if I was wearing a burlap sack. It doesn’t matter to him that I haven’t felt like dressing up in weeks and I can’t even remember the last time I wore makeup.

Drake looks at me like I’m the hottest girl in the world. He always has.

And he barely even noticed Olivia, not last year and not when she literally crawled into bed with him.

When his lips capture mine again in a searing kiss, I give in for just a minute. It would be so easy to let a wave of lust carry me away, to forget about everything for however long it takes to get him inside me. Shivers of sensation move down my spine. My knees would buckle if I was still standing.

I pull away from him with a gasp, my voice practically pleading. “We’re not done talking about this.”

“Oh, I think we are.” He smirks against my neck, pushing his hips against me so his erection grazes my center. “The way I see it, you only have two options. The easy way and the hard way.”

His lips skim along my cheek. The edge of his teeth presses into the tender skin there, making me shiver.

The path we were walking is narrow and winding. We’re on a switchback with a twenty-foot drop on one side of us and a wall of rock on the other. If I shove him away, he might go right over the edge.

Just because I want to hold him off long enough to make him understand I can’t give up, it doesn’t mean I want him to break his neck. But if I let him distract me now, there is no way that I’ll get another chance later. Drake isn’t the type to change his mind once it’s been made up.

“We’re not doing this right now,” I breathe.

“I guess that’s the hard way,” he growls.

His grip on me tightens, fingers digging into my hips as he crowds me back against the rock. He steps closer until just the press of his body is enough to keep me suspended in the air, freeing his hands for more important things.

I don’t resist when he strips off my jacket, the heat of his hands momentarily chasing away the cold. He tosses my jacket over a nearby branch and immediately sets to pulling up my shirt.

“It’s winter,” I hiss, slapping at his hands.

“Remember that thing I just said about doing this the hard way?” he growls.

“Neanderthal.”

His voice comes in sharp pants as he lowers his head enough that his lips skim my ear, even as his hands freeze in place. “You don’t want this?”

Fire burns in my belly and creates an itch along my spine. I know I should shove him away. Instead, my arms come up to wrap around his neck. “Bastard.”

His body is stiffer than stone, as if he doesn’t even the notice the raging hard-on pressed against my thigh. I grind against it and he pulls my hips away so I only feel a blast of frigid air between my legs.

“Beg me not to stop,” he growls.

I push one hand down between us to grip his hardened cock, the blazing heat of it belying his attempts to appear in control. He lets out a low groan, but then grabs both my hands with one of his and raises them over my head so I can’t touch him.

“You’re an asshole.”

“I know, baby.” He presses a kiss to my forehead and then his voice hardens. “Now, beg.”

Usually, I very much like it when he dominates me and today is definitely not an exception.

But that doesn’t mean I’ll make it easy on him.

“Never going to happen,” I breathe.
