“Gi called and said you needed some girl time, so here we are,” Denim shared, and my eyes watered at how thoughtful he was. “Don’t start crying. I’m not in the mood. I came to have fun.”

“You and that attitude could’ve stayed home,” I rolled my eyes at Denim. I knew her well, so I didn’t take her comment seriously. She wasn’t typically an emotional person because she avoided them at all costs.

“Have fun but not too much. Last time you did, you fucked some nigga you just met,” Gianni warned, causing Niyomi to giggle.

“The nigga was you,” Sarcasm dripped from my tone as my face twisted.

“You’re right.” He agreed, standing up and taking Serenity from Niyomi. “Ain’t too many nigga’s out there like me. I’ll leave y’all to it.”

“I love you,” My neck relaxed, looking up at him, and he kissed my lips, knowing what I was waiting for.

“I love you too, Lo.”

“Aww! Y’all are so damn cute,” Niyomi gushed as Gi walked out of the room.

“He’s right about one thing. Ain’t too many nigga’s like him; otherwise, we wouldn’t be single.”

“Anyway, we have a reservation in an hour, so you need to go get yourself together,” Niyomi ordered in full mom mode, but I wasn’t mad.

“Reservations where?”

“Get dressed and do something with your hair. Just because you’re a mom now doesn’t mean you have to look like it,” Niyomi fussed.

Flipping her the bird, I went upstairs to get prepared for the day. I didn’t know what they had planned, so I chose sexy but comfortable. I had to admit that putting on clothes and doing my make-up made me feel good. I needed to make it a habit even if I was going to the store.

When you look good, you feel good.

Right now, I looked damn good standing in the full-length mirror, and Gianni thought so too. He was leaning against the doorframe, watching me spruce up the coils that I styled in a ponytail.

“Is it, you know?” My eyebrows bounced, hoping he picked up on what I was trying to say.

“What? Just say it, Lo.”

“Safe.”

“If it weren’t, I wouldn’t have called them here. Stop worrying and enjoy your girl time so you can come home and thank your husband for being a real nigga,” A smile developed midway through his statement, followed by him bouncing his eyebrows but for a much different reason.

“You’re disgusting.”

“I can’t help what you do to me. Go have some fun,” he smacked my ass and walked out of our bedroom.

After applying lip gloss to match the light beat I’d done on my face, the three of us left with a warning from Gianni not to cause too much trouble. Girls' Day Out began at the spa, where we all received facials and a much-needed full-body massage. We decided on shopping next, but Niyomi was hungry and refused to eat those bourgeois snacks they offered at the spa.

“Hi, Mrs. Meraux. What can I do for you today?” The hostess greeted me before I could even reach the podium.

“Hi, a table for three, please.”

“Okay. Do you have a table preference?”

“No. First available is fine,” I replied.

“Actually,” Niyomi interjected, holding her finger up. “Mrs. Meraux will take the best table you have. Privacy would be a plus.”

“I’ll see if we can open the terrace for you and your guests. One moment.” The hostess walked over to the bar and whispered to the man I assumed was the manager because he wasn’t dressed like the other employees. “They’re preparing the terrace. It’ll only be a second.”

“Thank you so much, Marissa,” I replied, reading her name tag.

She didn’t lie because when I sat down, the man she whispered to at the bar came to escort us to the terrace. It was a beautiful day in DuPont Falls, so I didn’t mind eating outside, and the aesthetic would create a cute backdrop for all of Denim’s selfies.
