“Word,” I repeated, giggling at his excitement.

Chapter Eighteen
“I need you to come with me,” Hailo demanded, making my dick jump at her, strutting in my office with so much confidence and sass.
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing. I have a surprise for you.”
“I wish I could, but I can’t do that, Lo. I have a lot of stuff to do.”
Her eyes flipped up as she sat on the corner of my desk the way she always did when she dropped by.
“Daniel reassigned everything that has to be done so you can. Pack up so we can go.”
Sadie was visiting, so I didn’t question where Serenity was or who would keep her if I gave in to Hailo’s demand. I loved the assertiveness, but she had lost her mind.
“You had my assistant rearrange my calendar without my permission?” I questioned aloud, but Hailo was unbothered.
“Yes, I did.”
Hitting the intercom button, I called Daniel to my office.
“Here we go,” she sighed as the door swung open.
“What can I do for you, Mr. Meraux?”
“Why did you let Hailo rearrange my calendar without my permission?”
“She’s the boss. Those were your words. She asked, so I obliged,” Daniel replied matter-of-factly. I told him that on more than one occasion, but I didn’t think he would take it literally. “I told her you would be upset.”
“She’s the boss of me, not you. Next time, confer with me before you find yourself fired.”
“He is not going to fire you, Daniel. I appreciate your help.”
“Your welcome, Mrs. Meraux.”
“Yes, the fuck I am. You better stop listening to her,” I yelled as Daniel walked out, shutting the door.
“Stop threatening to fire him before he goes to HR on you. Or do they even exist in this utopia called DuPont Falls?” she asked purposely, trying to be funny.
“HR exists everywhere, smart ass. It just doesn’t apply to me.”
“Why am I not surprised?” Hailo checked the time. “Seriously, Gianni. We need to go.”
“Go where?”
“If I told you, it would no longer be a surprise. Let’s go, and don’t make me repeat it.”
“What are you going to do? Spank me?”
“Not in the way you would like, nasty. Now, come on, seriously.”
