“Give me that sweet pussy.” Hailo closed her eyes, shaking her head at my blunt honesty. It was the truth. Having sex that night was the catalyst for what we now had.

“Have a good day.” She attempted to walk away, but I grabbed her back by her neck and slipped my tongue down her throat. She needed something else to focus on than her daddy issues, and my tongue gave her plenty.

“Don’t sweat this shit. You hear me?”

“Yes, Gianni.”

“You know what that does to me. You better stop before I bend you over.”

“Absolutely not! My mama already saw the marks you left on me.”

“Sadie knows I fuck the shit out of you.”

“Bye Gi! Have a good day.” She planted a quick kiss on my lips before rushing out of the room before I tried to get her out of her clothes.

I finished getting ready for the day and kissed my girls before I darted out the door- all three of them. Trent was present when I arrived at the port, and I couldn’t help but notice his right hand wasn’t with him.

“Hey, Gi.”

“Wassup. Are we waiting on TJ?”

“No,” Trent replied, his eyes falling to the ground before finding me again. “He’s not joining us today.”

Trent and I went over the shipment. He requested an extra load of guns that he needed to explain before I consented to a damn thing. They were having problems on the home front and wanted to be prepared just in case. I conceded this time but urged him to get his business in order because it wouldn’t happen again.

“I know I don’t have the right to ask,” Trent started and stopped himself. He knew he had to tread lightly wherever Hailo was involved.

“Then don’t.”

“Father to father, Gianni. How is she?”

I liked Trent much better before I knew he was Hailo’s father. In a weird, twisted way, I believed he did love Hailo. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t what she needed or deserved. “Don’t ever compare what you’re not to Hailo to what I am to my daughter.”

“You’re right. I haven’t been a father to her, but TJ and Ava would like to meet their sister.”

“She needs time. For now, respect that.”

Defeated, he nodded and turned for his vehicle. I didn’t have an ounce of sympathy for him. His wounds were self-inflicted. As a man, he had to lie in the bed he made, even if it was drowning him like quicksand.

Initially, when Kyerra told me she was keeping the baby, I was angry. Part of me was so sure she wouldn’t. Then everybody would know the real her, not the mask she wore to the public. I was wrong, but my son was the best thing to come from this.

“Good morning,” Kyerra greeted me, entering the living room where Bryson and I were hanging out.

A year seemed to work wonders for Gi and Hailo, but my situation was much more complicated. Kyerra and I were married but focused on Bryson, so figuring out us wasn’t very high on the priority list.

“Morning. I have to go into the office and handle some stuff today. I shouldn’t be home late,” I shared as she picked him up and sat on the other end of the sofa.

She nodded while holding Bryson up and kissing his cheeks. I allowed Kyerra to sleep in because I had to spend most of my day at work. Now that she was rested and awake, it was time for me to head out.

“Do you resent me for keeping him?” Kyerra blurted out as I headed for the stairs.

Yes, in the beginning. Then I had to check myself. I was working on holding myself accountable instead of blaming my shit on everybody else. I willingly pursued Kyerra and fucked her multiple times with no protection. I should've been more careful if I didn’t want to be stuck with her. I wasn’t, and this was the outcome. I had to own that; otherwise, I’d drive myself crazy.

Instead of divulging all that, I simplified my response. “No.” It was the truth. I loved my son regardless of the mess that created him.

Bryson gave me purpose and a second chance to make better decisions. I was determined to be a better father than the one I had because I never wanted him to feel the rage I felt at times. Bryson had even brought Solana and me closer- something I didn’t know I needed.

“It was your decision, and you made it.”
