"Is it the girl from the Ferguson?" Solana asked, likely after Kyerra vividly described the details from earlier.

“Yeah, it is.”

Solana scoffed into the speaker, and I imagined her shaking her head in disappointment. "How far along is she?"

"Six months."

"Six months?" Solana yelled as if that would change the facts. Her breathing increased before she began ranting again. “Why wouldn't she tell you she's pregnant?”

"It's nice to know you've never had a one-night stand," I smiled at Solana's naivety.

"You're disgusting, and so is she. You know what this means, right?”

“I know.”

Solana reeled her emotions back to be the supportive shoulder I was for her numerous times, “How are you feeling?”

“I don’t know. If it’s mine, I have a daughter.”

“I didn’t mean to fuss. I’m just shocked. I expect something like this from Ty, but you. This is crazy.”

“Tell me about it. I’m about to finish this workout and holla at my Pops.”

“You know you can talk to me, right? Tell me the things you can’t say to everybody else.”

“I know, Sol.”

“Love you, Gi.”

“Love you too.” Hanging up, I slid my phone back into my pocket to finish my workout and shower.

I couldn't blame Kyerra for calling Solana. They were close, and their relationship was how I met Kyerra in the first place. I finished my workout and wanted to be as calm as possible when facing my father.

Pulling into my parent's driveway, I climbed out of the car to let my Pops know what was happening. Using my key, I let myself in and followed the sound of the television to the den, where my parents were seated on the couch like two teenagers. Xora was leaning against his chest, giggling at whatever corny line he was spitting in her ear.

“I’m going to need that key back,” Ross groaned, irritated because I was interrupting their alone time. I smiled at the visual of my parents still deeply in love with each other after all these years. I needed that reminder tonight.

“Oh, stop it, Ross,” My mother cut her eyes at him before shifting toward me with a smile, “Hey baby, are you okay?”

“Yeah. I need to holla at Pops.”

“Now?” My father asked, and I didn’t like what he was insinuating.

“Yeah, now.”

“Gianni,” Xora’s warning tone wasn’t enough to make me crack. Eventually, I would tell her and the rest of my family, but I needed my father tonight.

“I’m sure the boy is fine, Xora.”

“I haven’t been a boy in a long time. What’s wrong with your husband?” I asked, tossing my index finger at my father, who was now standing before me.

“In my office, so we can make this quick. I have things to do.”

“It better not be my mama,” I followed him down the hallway, shutting the door behind me.

“Everything is okay, right?”

“Depends on how you look at it.”
