“Are you hurt?” I asked because that was the only explanation for Solana calling me this time of night.

“No,” she muttered, and though she didn’t immediately say anything else, I knew she wanted to.

“So wassup?”

“I need you to come to get me.”

“Come get you? Get you from where Solana?”

“Out,” she replied as I swung my feet to the floor. Pulling my phone away from my face, I checked the time in confusion.

“Out where? It’s two in the morning.”

“Kyerra and I went out. She got too drunk, and now I don’t know what to do with her.”

“Take her home.”

“Well.”

“You’re drunk too,” I replied, filling in the blanks.

“Don’t say it like that! I would’ve called Gi, but-.”

“Fuck him!” Kyerra yelled in the background, forcing me to pull the phone away.

“Do you have your gun?”

“Yes.”

“I hope you’re not too damn drunk to use it if you have to. Send me your location. I’m on the way.”

“Okay.”

Throwing on a pair of sweats, I grabbed my hoodie and made my way out of the door. Thankfully they weren’t too far from my house, but this wasn’t what I wanted to be doing right now. Thankfully, I pulled into the parking lot, and there were still other cars, so her Mercedes didn’t look like a sitting duck.

“I should’ve left your ass out here. You know you fucked up,” I fussed, approaching her. Solana stepped out of the car and opened the back passenger door where Kyerra was laid out.

“Blame your cousins.”

“Damn, so I was third on the call list?”

“Second. Gi never made the list, and Mack didn’t answer.” Solana sucked her teeth and explained. “I didn’t want to hear your mouth.”

“Because you know you don’t need to be out here this time of night drunk.”

“I’m not drunk!” Solana yelled like a toddler in the midst of a tantrum.

“Oh, so I can go home?”

“Nobody says a word when y’all go out and get drunk. It’s a problem for me, and that’s not fair.”

“Life ain’t fair, Sol. Nobody knew you were out. What if something happened to you?”

“Alright!” She yelled, thrusting her fisted hands at her side.

“Can somebody take me home?” Kyerra groaned from the back seat of Solana’s car.

“You can stay with me tonight,” Solana offered.
