“What do you have in mind?”

“I don’t know. I’ve thought of a couple, but nothing feels right. Part of me wants to wait until she’s here, but I don’t want to keep referring to her as it or nugget.”

“What you got?”

“Armani, Kaomi, Myley, and Serene but none of them feel right. Do you think we should wait until she’s here?”

“Maybe because I hate all of them.”

“Okay, so come up with something better,” I challenged, not offended. I wasn’t in love with any of them either.

His phone dinged, and he gave it his attention before focusing back on the conversation.

“Serenity.”

“Serenity,” I repeated, contemplating how the name sounded. It was a cute suggestion. “What? You had a girlfriend named Serenity you never got over or something?”

“You’re such a fuckin’ asshole.” His nostrils flared, causing me to giggle. I loved the way we could joke with each other. “I’ve never had a girlfriend named Serenity. That would be weird as fuck.”

“Serenity is pretty. I like it. Serenity Raye Meraux.”

“Where did Raye come from?”

A whistle escaped my lips at how much we didn’t know about each other. “It’s your wife’s middle name. Serenity will have your last name, but I want her to have something of mine too.”

“I guess I still have a lot of shit to learn.”

“Yeah, but we have time.”

“Serenity Raye, it is then.” he agreed while stroking my stomach. “That’s all I want fa real.”

“What?”

“Peace and calm but with you as her mother, I don’t know,” Gianni kidded, referring to the definition of her name.

“You got jokes, I see.”

“You see how easily we solved this problem together? I know you’re not used to being with a real nigga, but you don’t have to figure everything out yourself.”

“Solve something else for me. Who is Sky?” I asked. It was hard to miss her name lighting up his phone. I tried to ignore it but refused to play the fool again.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the feelings you’ve been trying to avoid,” he lightly pinched at my cheek, amused by my question.

“Don’t play with me, Gianni.”

“Sky works at the club. Ty and I are throwing a party there for Mack’s birthday.”

“Wow, it’s the one person in your family’s birthday that I like, and you didn’t tell me.”

“I didn’t know I needed to clear that with you, Boss.”

“You should’ve because even I know a party doesn’t seem like Mack’s thing.”

“He’ll enjoy himself when he gets there.”

“I can’t wait to see this.”

“You’re due any day, Lo. You’re not going.”
