“Get your shit off so you can enjoy the rest of your night.”

“I ain’t got shit to say. At least not here.” Mack strolled off as Gianni and Hailo rounded the corner.

When Mack said Gi went to check on Hailo, I assumed Gi stepped away to call. Not that she was here in the flesh. I greeted them both before visiting Sky at the bar. We engaged in our usual banter as I grabbed my drink, surveying the room. Hailo was standing at the high-top table alone, prompting me to watch what had her in such a trance. Kyerra sauntered across the room nervously, addressing Gianni as he continued to flip bills at the stripper on the stage in front of him.

“How bad does it hurt?” I asked, approaching Hailo as she watched Gi and Kyerra share a conversation. “Watching them together. Knowing he wishes it was her.”

She turned around and rolled her eyes before taking a sip of her drink. “Not as bad as you would like. We know what this is and what it isn’t.”

“Doesn’t make it sting any less, sweetheart.”

“As much as it stings knowing she came here with you but still thinking about him. After all, you’re over here with me.”

I smirked at the way she handled my insult. Hailo wasn’t easily intimidated.

“You’re feisty. That’s sexy as fuck.”

“And you’re messy. I like my nigga’s with a lot less sass.”

“I don’t like women who take shit that doesn’t belong to them. We wouldn’t be a good fit.”

Hailo’s head whipped around, studying my face wearing an unpleasant scowl.

“If you have something to say, man up and say it,” Hailo challenged, but I planned to keep what I knew to myself. At least for now.

“Have something to say about what?”

“Be careful playing with Gi cuz you’re not gonna like how I play back if you keep fucking with him,” Hailo warned just as Solana approached us.

“Sorry to interrupt, but can I borrow my brother for a second?” Solana asked, looping her arm inside of mine.

“Gladly.” Hailo rolled her eyes as Solana grabbed my hand, pulling me near the wall.

“What the fuck are you doing, Tyson? Why did you bring Kyerra?” Solana fussed in a whispered tone.

“It ain’t like she’s never going to run into that nigga again. DuPont Falls isn’t that big.”

“You know what I mean! Showing up with your cousin’s ex-girlfriend is messy as fuck. That’s low even for you, Ty.” Listening to Solana defend Gianni exposed the vein in my temple. That nigga was no saint. Initially, I pitied him for being forced to marry Hailo, but they deserved each other.

“Yeah, fuckin’ with your cousin’s ex should be frowned upon,” I replied, instantly regretting the words that left my mouth.

“What? What are you talking about?” Solana blinked, putting her hand on my chest.

“Nothing. I need a drink,” Walking around Solana, I ignored her calling my name because I had already said too much.

I didn’t have to explain myself to anybody. Gi might’ve thought he was Kyerra’s first, but that was mine long before she was ever his.

“Aye, you good?” I asked, taking a seat next to Gianni.

“You’ll find any excuse not to enjoy yourself.”

“It’s a valid question.”

“Aye, Cocoa Rose. Come here.” Gianni motioned the brown-skinned beauty over to us.

“This is the birthday boy right here,” Gi smirked, patting my shoulder.

“Then I guess I need to take extra care of him tonight,” she flirted, taking a seat on my lap.
