“Where is the money, Bella?” I reasoned, hoping to shorten this ordeal.

She hesitated but walked to her bedroom, and I followed to ensure she wasn’t trying to pull a fast one.

“Wes is all I have. You know that,” she sniffled. The audacity of her wanting my sympathy after she robbed me.

“Open the bag,” I ordered, not moved by her tears. They used to make me cave and give in to her needs, but not anymore.

“We can still fix this,” Bella begged, but there was no hope. I couldn’t share a life and future with a woman I didn’t trust. My lifestyle would never allow it, and when I came home at the end of the day, I needed peace.

The sound of my gun cocking caused another tear to roll out. “Open the bag.” Doing as she was told, Bella unzipped the bag. “Is that all of it?”

“It’s another bag. Can I get it, or are you going to shoot me?”

Looking at my watch, I needed to wrap this shit up. “Get my shit and stop playing.”

Pulling the other bag out, she repeated the same steps, satisfying my need. She stood up and followed my instructions, dragging both bags into the living room.

“You got your money. Now, can you go? He needs a hospital.”

“Oh, he’s going. Just in a body bag.” Pulling the trigger, I landed two shots to his chest.

Bella screamed so violently, rushing over to his body at the thought of being alone, so I put her out of her misery, too. It was too risky to let her live, and that was the price to pay for crossing me.

“What the fuck?” Mo asked, looking pissed off because his trigger-happy ass wanted to do the honors.

“I have shit to do. Let’s ride,” I replied, returning my gun to my waist and grabbing one of the bags.

“But I’m the one with problems.” Shaking his head, Morgan stepped over Wes’s lifeless body and led the way out.

We made it back to the car, and I quickly pulled out so we could finally put this shit to rest. I was running behind, so I texted Solana at a red light, letting her know I would leave the casino soon and head home.

“You good?” Morgan asked.

“Yeah. I’m straight.” I replied, but the side of my face was warm from Morgan’s gaze. “Get it off your chest, or stop staring at me.”

“I know your balls are in Solana’s purse now, but it used to be Bella, and now she’s dead.”

“I said I’m good, Mo.”

“Aite,” he threw his hands up, not yet convinced.

“Are you good?” I asked in between glances because they had always been close. “You look more heartbroken than I do.”

“You need me to get the money situated?” Morgan asked, changing the subject.

“I’ll count it up and call the Merauxs tomorrow. Tonight, it’s going to the safe.”

Morgan nodded, and I drove to the casino. I parked in the back, and the two of us each grabbed a bag to make this quick. Once inside, he took both bags to get a head start while I dipped into the bathroom.

I could feel somebody walking too close behind me. Considering what we had just done, it might’ve been my nerves, but I wasn’t taking any chances.

Abruptly turning around, I hit the nigga with a mean left hook. I was getting the best of him until his homeboy came from behind and snuck me, wrapping his big ass arm around my neck. I was at a disadvantage but wasn’t giving up that easy.

Kicking my leg back, I hit him in the balls, and he let me go. Trying to reach for my gun, the big one rushed me, and from there, I was fucked. They dragged me toward the emergency exit, and when they got tired of me putting up a fight, one of them struck me with his gun, and everything around me became hazy.

My head was pounding as I opened my eyes, but that only intensified the pain.

Whoever the fuck was behind this better kill me. Otherwise, the city was going to feel my wrath.
