A stream of precum leaked out around my fingers almost as soon as I touched him, and I used it as lube to pump his dick in time with my thrusts. “Caden, please,” he whispered as his legs began to shake, and suddenly it seemed to be all he could say. My dick twitched inside of him as he continued to whisper, “Please, please, please.” He started thrusting into my hand in time with my movements, and he whimpered.

Right as I felt myself reach the peak, and stars started to explode in my eyes, Jamie cried out. His head fell back, landing on my shoulder as his body began to spasm, and the wall in front of us was splattered with his cum.

“Fuck!” I cried out, grabbing the wall with my free hand, and thrusting into him erratically as my orgasm overtook me, my dick pulsing inside of him and filling the condom. We stood there for a minute as we panted against the wall in silence. Damn. I was no stranger to sex, but I never knew it could be like it was with Jamie.

I pulled out and tucked my dick back into my jeans, tying off the condom as I looked around for a trash can. Jamie whirled around and smacked me on the shoulder with absolutely no force whatsoever. “What was that for?” I laughed.

“Don’t do that while we’re on my bike. If anything happened to you because I wrecked, I’d never forgive myself.” He had seriously started right back up with the scolding.

I laughed again, even harder. “You’re not nearly as intimidating as you think you are with your pants around your knees like that.” He yanked his pants back up, but I saw the hint of amusement on his face. I went on, “It’s good to know, though, that I can get you that hot just from playing with your dick a little bit.”

He grabbed me by the back of my head and kissed me aggressively. He tried to look serious again but failed as he said, “You don’t really have to do anything to get me hot for you, Caden.”

Since he’d always seemed to want to be just that little bit aloof, I was surprised he said it. I grinned. “Back at ya, my beautiful kaleidoscope.”

Every bit of scolding he might have prepared in his mind flew right out the window. He laughed. “Let’s go before we get arrested.” I followed him back to his bike. I noticed how gingerly he sat down, though.

“You ok?” I asked him.

He glanced back at me. For a second, I thought he was going to scold me again, but then he just said, “I’ve seriously never been better.” He grinned as he pulled his helmet back on, then started the bike. He grunted every time we hit a bump, but he still didn’t seem to care.

There was no sign of Weird Wally on the way home that night. I took that as a good sign. We were going to be ok. Jamie was going to be ok. We parted in front of the dorms with a kiss in the shadows.

Chapter 12

April

I wasn’t doing nearly enough, just sitting in the library while Caitlin scoured articles in search of any information on our guy. Jeff was trying to figure out if Wally had gone to our school, because if he had, we thought we might be able to find out more about his past that way. He seemed to know the campus, but I wasn’t sure if that was simply from following Jamie, or from his past. Amber was trying Google again, already on the seventeenth page but determined to look as deep as it would let her. Jesse was trying to figure out where Wally had first seen the apparently cursed ad for Club Adonis with a picture of Jamie and his stage name. There had been other ads released around the same time, featuring the newest dancers, but the others had not caught Wally’s attention. Jamie was the only dancer in the club he’d ever seemed interested in.

The other dancers in the ads had been guys Jamie had been friends with. They were not only sad that Jamie was gone but freaking out that it had happened.

The ad had been found in Wally’s “Jamie Room.” Everyone assumed that’s how he found Jamie in the first place. No one in Club Adonis could remember him coming in before the ad had run. Even the police didn’t think he’d simply discovered Jamie there, but that he’d gone there specifically for Jamie. The club was no longer running ads with photos. They even temporarily took down all photos of their dancers on social media as they paused all promotions and tried to figure out how to advertise the establishment while also keeping their dancers safe. I could appreciate what they were doing, but it was a little too late to keep them all safe.

I knew it didn’t matter where he’d seen the ad, but it was possible there was a clue there. Anything we could learn about him would be helpful. He was a mystery, just a ghost to me who’d been after my boyfriend. He knew much more about me than I knew about him, and it was time to tip the scales.

I was going through the messages on my phone again. Not the ones with Wally’s messages though, the ones I’d missed because the hockey game had gone into overtime. At the time, it felt like a lot was riding on that game. If we won, we were in the playoffs. They were all countin on me. My team was counting on me, my friends were counting on me, the school, the town. I let it weigh on my shoulders and overpower everything else. Not to mention that promise I’d made, but it was one I could have kept even if we lost.

It was all useless. All of it. The promise I’d made to Jamie couldn’t be fulfilled if he wasn’t there. The playoffs didn’t matter to me either. Letting all those people down wouldn’t have been the end of the world. It wasn’t worth it. They didn’t love me like he did. They didn’t light up my world with a simple smile. They didn’t try to protect me. They didn’t call out my name in that breathless tone that made me come instantly. They weren’t him. The game itself didn’t matter. It would have caused some disappointment, but letting it get in the way may have cost someone their life.

Caden, he’s here again. He’s acting really weird. Are you still playing?

Hey, when you get done, can you call me?

He’s really freaking me out this time. That one had a screenshot of the final message Wally sent Jamie. The one that told Jamie it was all his fault.

Ok, the cops had to come, but he’s gone now. It’s ok. So don’t freak out alright?

I’m going to get another restraining order tomorrow. LMK when your game’s done. And if you won. Wink emoji.

And don’t try to lie lol. I’m almost done here.

I’ll find out if you lie, you know.

Ok, I wish I could unsend some of those because I know you’re gonna flip out when you see them. I just finished my last set.

If you get all these before I get home, don’t panic, ok? Wally’s been gone a while. Tristan is outside with me. He’s going to watch from the road again to make sure no one follows me. They checked the parking lot and even the lot next door. I’ll see you in a bit. Love you.

But Wally didn’t follow him from the parking lot or anywhere else Tristan could see. Yes, I was still playing when he sent the last text. Unfortunately, Jamie left early that night. He was too shaken up by Wally to keep dancing, even though he did his best not to convey that in the texts he sent me. Yes, I did freak out the moment I saw the texts, even more so when I looked at the time they’d been sent and realized it was well over the time it should have taken him to get home, even if he drove the speed limit, which he never did. I hadn’t received another text or call.
