“Just remember, girls love a guy in uniform. At least…that’s what I’ve heard.”

Reid just shook his head. “I’m not touching that theory with a ten-foot pole.”

But…he would put it on the back-burner and maybe test it out with Ashlynn once she was feeling civil toward him.

“Your loss…”

Sighing, he sat down on the sofa and stared at his friend for a long moment.

“So, what is the plan?” Leo asked.

“What plan?”

“You’re here for the next few days, but then you’re going back to Roanoke to pack, right?”

“Yup.”

“And you’re also going to potentially sign a lease on an apartment tonight.”

“That is what I’m hoping.”

“You realize you will then have three places to live.”

“Ah. I see what you’re getting at. Okay, I’m here because I needed to start work at the station. There wasn’t enough time for me to pack up everything in Roanoke and considering it’s only a little more than an hour away, I know I can commute a bit if I have to. But when I’m on the schedule for multiple days in a row, I can’t be that far away. The most I’ll be staying with you is hopefully this week. If everything goes as planned, I’ll be moving into the apartment next week.”

“I’m not rushing you out,” Leo explained. “I hope that’s not what you’re thinking.”

“Not at all. I get it. And I appreciate you taking me in on such short notice.”

“Honestly, I’m just psyched that you’re moving back.”

Smiling, he nodded. “Me too. It was great seeing some familiar faces at your engagement party, and maybe once I get settled in, we can all get together and hang out.”

“That sounds good.” He paused. “Were you thinking just the guys or…”

“Please tell me you’re not one of those guys who has to have his girlfriend with him at all times,” he teased. “Because some of us are single and not really into hanging out with couples.”

“I wouldn’t say we’re exactly like that, but Avery and I do really enjoy hanging out together.” Another pause. “We should double date!”

“Um…what?”

Leo nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah, me and Avery, and then you and Ashlynn. It would be perfect!”

“Yeah, there’s just one small problem with that.”

“What?”

“Ashlynn really doesn’t like me.”

Yet.

“That’s just because the two of you got off on the wrong foot. I’ll have Avery put in a good word for you.”

“That’s not…”

Wait…that would be kind of awesome.

“I mean…if you don’t think it would be a big deal,” he said casually.
