“I better go. Louise and Izzie are dying to know what we’ve discussed.”

“No doubt.”

“Talk later.” Zoe ended the call. She practically floated across the room.

“Spill!” Izzie demanded.

“Yes! Do!” Louise echoed the request.

“I’m going to take a holiday in Cornwall with Mason.” Zoe was blushing.

“Blinding!” Louise shouted.

“Excellent!” Izzie concurred. “Our work here is done.” She got up from her chair. “Louise, I could say it was a pleasure meeting you.”

“You mean it wasn’t?”

“It’s lucky for you that things turned out the way they have.” Izzie was an inch away from scolding her.

Louise looked sheepish. “Glad I wasn’t a blighter.”

“There is an entire vocabulary I have to learn.” Zoe laughed.

Louise scrambled out from behind her desk and threw her arms around Zoe. “I am so happy you’re not a trollop.”

Izzie and Zoe howled, said their goodbyes and left the office, but not without Izzie snagging one of Louise’s business cards. You never knew when you were going to need an extra gumshoe.

By the time they left the building, it was rush hour. People were moving in all directions. They stood on the corner for several minutes before they could catch a cab. “You must be relieved,” Izzie said as they waited.

“I’m flabbergasted. I don’t know how to thank you, Izzie. I would have written him off. Period. End of story.”

“I’m glad that it’s the beginning of a new one.” Zoe finally flagged down a taxi and gave him the address of her office.

On their way up Sixth Avenue, Zoe explained the scaffolding accident to Izzie. “It sounds like it could have been deliberate,” Izzie observed.

“Yes. There is going to be an investigation.” Zoe sighed.

“We will have one of our own.” Izzie patted her friend’s knee and pulled out her cell phone. “What’s the name of the building again? And when did this happen?” Zoe gave her the details and Izzie immediately sent them to Fergus with a brief explanation. If anyone could investigate something, it was the former head of Scotland Yard.

They pulled up in front of the office building and went inside. The place had pretty much emptied out. When they got to Zoe’s floor, it was empty, which was not a big surprise for a Friday night. Just to be sure, Zoe did a quick walk around her corner of the floor. It was deserted. The two women went into Zoe’s office and closed the door. “Lock it,” Izzie instructed. “We don’t want anyone interrupting us.”

Izzie pulled out a small electronic device and checked for any hidden audio or visual surveillance. Nothing turned. Fielder and Walsh were probably depending on tracking Zoe’s movements via her computer. But they were not expecting the magic touch of Izzie Flanders.

Zoe gave her a quizzical look and Izzie responded, “That shipment to Ohio was not in your files, correct?”

“Correct,” Zoe answered.

“Which means there are probably a whole lot more you don’t know about.”

“True. But I didn’t want to risk searching for anything else.”

“That’s why you have me.” Izzie winked and sat in Zoe’s chair. Izzie was able to access the mainframe without using any passwords. Zoe was quite impressed.

“Wow. I knew you were good, but this is exceptional.”

Izzie searched for anything that contained the words El Cemento. Over a hundred jobs came up on the screen. Izzie plugged in a thumb drive and copied them. “I’ll send this on to Charles.”

Zoe was dumbfounded. “How did I miss all this?”
