“Then Switzerland, New Mexico, South Africa, wherever you need to go, I’m ready. Of course…” She paused, a smile playing on her lips. “My grandmother says we’ll need someone to help with the children, plural, so she has to come too.”

He laughed. “Then we’ll take Yaya.”

“Speak of the devil,” Lena murmured, glancing down at the street.

“Kalimera!” Good morning. Thespina was coming up the sidewalk with a grocery bag in each hand.

“What are you doing?” Lena called to her as Mick went to hit the buzzer to let her into the building. “How did you get here?” Their apartment was five miles from where her parents lived.

“Taxi!” The elderly woman yelled back, disappeared under the overhang.

“Welcome to your new life,” Lena said to Mick, joining him at the door where he waited for Thespina to come up the elevator.

“I love my new life,” he whispered, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her soundly. “Having you and Mihalis with me is better than anything else I’ve ever done.”

“My family will always be dropping by unannounced like this.”

“Not if we’re in Switzerland.”

“And if Yaya comes with us?”

“Just one more wonderful member of your family to love.”

Her eyes misted slightly. “I love you, Mick.”

“I love you, too.”

“And I love you too!” Thespina said, stepping out of the elevator, her eyes dancing with mirth. She handed the grocery bags to Mick before linking her arm through Lena’s. “So, when are we moving?” she asked in her stilted English.

Mick and Lena’s eyes met over her head and they grinned. Life was good and about to get even better.
