“Well we’re about to see our baby,” I told him, trying to sound positive and hopeful.

There was a burst of fear in Greyson’s gaze before he quickly shuttered his emotions, pasting on a smile I knew wasn’t real. “I can’t wait,” he murmured.

Alex wheeled in the machine, because apparently doctors in Greyson’s world brought ultrasound machines to their patient’s houses, and she and the doctor worked to set it up and get it plugged in.

I stared at each of the guys while Dr. Freeman pushed up my shirt and spread gel all over my stomach. I wanted to memorize this moment, this before...just in case what she told us shattered my hopes and dreams.

She placed the probe on my abdomen, and the room was completely silent as we all watched the screen, anticipation...and fear building with each passing moment.

And then, there it was—a tiny flicker of movement on the monitor, so small, and yet so significant.

Life changing, in fact.

The sound of the heartbeat filled the room, strong and steady, a reassuring rhythm that echoed in my ears.

“There it is,” Dr. Freeman said softly, her voice filled with warmth as she pointed to the screen. “Your baby’s heartbeat. Everything looks perfectly fine and healthy.”

I closed my eyes and a sob slipped from my mouth as relief washed over me, my heart swelling with gratitude and wonder.

I wiped some of the tears falling down my cheeks, trying to look at the guys and gauge their reactions.

They all looked emotional and awestruck, but it was Greyson’s reaction that did me in.

“You’re giving me a baby,” he whispered, and then his shoulders were shaking, and his face scrunched up. Tears were falling from his eyes.

Greyson buried his face in my neck, his tears wetting my skin.

I never could have imagined my tough mafia boss reacting like this to becoming a dad.

I stared up at Jack, Carter, and Sebastian in shock, and their answering grins made my heart squeeze in my chest.

I thought I knew what happiness felt like.

But what I was feeling now surpassed anything I could have ever imagined.

It didn't matter that I couldn't remember most of my past.

Because my future was all I needed.

Dr. Freeman got the blood test results and confirmed that the drug they’d given me wouldn’t leave any lasting effects for me or the baby. The guys made her show us the baby one more time and then she and her assistant left.

As soon as the elevator doors closed, the guys turned their attention back to me.

I blushed, because having all four of their attention like that...I didn’t think it was anything I was going to get used to any time soon.

“On a scale of one to ten...how tired are you?” Sebastian mused, rubbing his bottom lip as he stared at me...hungrily.

I squeezed my legs together, realizing that I was surprisingly experiencing a burst of energy, most of the sleepiness and pure exhaustion I’d been feeling earlier was nowhere to be found.

“Heathens, we’re all taking showers first,” Carter growled, grabbing the back of Sebastian’s shirt before he could get any closer to me. “No one else’s blood is getting close to our princess and our baby.”

I snorted and he winked at me, but my smile quickly dropped when I realized that he wasn’t kidding.

They were going to make me wait.

I pouted and they all laughed at me as they went to their respective rooms, all of them except Sebastian—this was his room after all.
