“Lottie?” Becca calls out from the door, pulling my attention away from my computer screen. “There’s someone here to see you.”

“Oh? Is it a client?” I ask, quickly minimizing our photograph together.

Like his video, something tells me I’ll be obsessing over it too.

“No, it’s a drop-in. But Lottie, you’ll want to meet her,” Becca says, overly excited.

“Okay.” I laugh softly at her excitement. “Please send her in, then.”

Becca quickly jumps to the task of ushering in the new potential client.

A minute later, a striking blonde walks into my office with a smile so bright it could light up the entire building, much less this room.

I, on the other hand, only offer her a stiff smile in return.

“Riley Griffin,” I greet, holding out my hand for her to shake. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

“Likewise, although I was hoping to meet you last Saturday night. I have to say, you were a worthy opponent at the Winter Ball auction. I was sure I’d win.”

“Is that why you came to see me today? To complain about your loss?”

“Not even a little bit,” she says, her smile broadening further. “Though I must admit you piqued my interest about this mysterious woman who bested me. It took me a while to find out who you were, but luckily for me, there were plenty of people at the party that helped my search along.”

“Well, you’re here now, so you obviously talked to the right people.”

“I did.” She continues to grin, which is a little unnerving since I’m sure I’m scowling back at her.

“Thankfully, you need no introduction, Miss Griffin. Everyone in Boston knows who you are after winning Wimbledon last summer. Congrats. I’ve heard great things about you,” I retort politely.

“Well, that makes two of us. Agnes McDonald speaks very highly of you, too. And please, call me Riley.”

Agnes.

So, she’s the one who told Riley about me and my business. Should have known.

“I’m glad to hear it. Please have a seat.” I usher her to a chair as I walk back to my desk.

Riley takes a seat while Becca offers her refreshments. She gracefully declines, looking ready to get down to business.

“So, tell me, Riley, what brings you to Love Moore?”

She looks over at a retreating Becca and then back to me when we’re finally alone in the room.

“Honestly, another client of yours.”

“Oh?” I cock an inquisitive brow.

“Yes. Nathan Wilder.”

A lump immediately forms in my throat at her mentioning his name.

“Nate?”

She nods.

“I know that I probably shouldn’t know this, but Agnes told me that Nathan is a client of yours. And when I saw how passionately you had his back at the auction event back at the charity ball, it wasn’t hard for me to connect the dots. He is a client of yours, is he not?”

“I’m really not at liberty to say. Most of my clients prefer to be kept anonymous.”
