Trent wraps his strong arms around me and lovingly runs his hands up and down my spine, leaving sweet, tender kisses on the top of my head.

“This is the last time,” I tell him softly.

“Sure, it is.”

“I’m serious.”

“Sure, you are.”

“God, you’re maddening.” I shake my head, hiding my smile.

“And you are fucking exquisite.”

“What a pair we make, then.” I let out a deep exhale.

“We could if you’d only let us,” he whispers softly, holding me tighter.

Though I don’t answer him, my silence doesn’t seem to hurt him right now. Not when I’m holding onto him just as fiercely.

“Do you want to stay out here a little longer, or can we go inside?”

“I know this quote. I can’t remember from where, but I swear I’ve read it before,” I murmur, trying to recall where I know it from.

“Do you like it?” he asks while helping me put it on my wrist instead of giving me a hint from where he stole the quote.

Once the bracelet is fastened on my wrist, I crane my head back and look deep into his eyes.

“I love it. Thank you.”

“Kitten, if you’re going to look at me like that, best open the door for us to go inside. Unless, of course, you think your neighbors won’t mind getting one hell of a show.”

“You’re so not funny.” I shake my head, hurrying to grab the keys from my purse because, with Trent, I never know if he’s joking or actually serious.

“You keep saying that, but one day, I’ll get you to crack a smile.”

I swing the door open and lace my hand in his.
