“Cancel all my appointments for the rest of the afternoon. My meeting with Ms. Lee is going to demand all my time and attention. And while you’re at it, take the rest of the day off, too.”

“Very well, Mr. Nichols. Is there anything else you need?”

“No, Brigitte. I have all I’ll ever need right here in my arms.”

“I don’t want you to go,” Trent pouts, lying on the floor of his office, watching me get dressed.

“Too bad because, unlike you, I still have things to do.” I smile. “Toby has been texting me nonstop, asking where I am.”

“Hmm, Toby? That’s your assistant, right?” he asks curiously. “Should I be worried that you’re leaving me here all alone—naked, I might add—to meet up with another man?”

“You sound jealous,” I tease, though Toby should be the least of his worries if he really thought about it.

In my line of business, I’m usually surrounded by more men than women. Men who think they are God’s gift just because they know how to throw a ball or hit a puck. Toby, on the other hand, has no such delusions of grandeur. Not only that, but he’s also engaged to be married next year to his long-time boyfriend—two things that Trent doesn’t need to know since I’m quite enjoying him trying to hide his jealousy from me.

“Well, I’m not. Just sad that you can’t stay a little longer.”

“It’s well past five, Trent. But at this rate, I might as well go home.”

He springs like a cat up to his feet as if he just heard the magic word.

“Give me five minutes,” he says, overly excited, picking his clothes up off the floor and hurriedly putting them on.

“Trent, stop. I really do need to get back to the office.” I place my hand on his bare chest.

“Fine. I suppose I do have paperwork to catch up on, too.” He frowns.

“See? Look at us being all responsible.” I smile, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.

But before I turn to head towards the door, Trent grabs me from behind and wraps his arms around me.

“Is that all I get after making you come five times this afternoon? I think you could do a little better than that, don’t you?” He then spins me around and presses his lips on mine until I’m a pool of need.

Damn him.

As hard as it is for me, I place my open palms on his chest and push him off me before he changes my mind.

“I’ll see you later,” I say breathlessly, charging at the door before he pulls me in with his devilish smile.

“I’ll be home waiting,” he retorts with a light chuckle now that I’m a wanton hot mess.

I roll my eyes at him before slamming the door behind me, only to lean against it until my heart rate slows down.

In truth, I would have preferred to go home with Trent and then back to the office, but that would set a bad precedent. Before too long, he would have me chained up to our bed, ensuring that I’d never go anywhere.

“Though there are worse ways to spend my days,” I whisper to myself and giggle.

Shit.

Now he’s got me giggling.

What the hell is wrong with me?

I don’t have enough time to analyze just at what point in my life I turned into a giggling schoolgirl with her first crush because I hear my name being called out.

“Well, look who we have here?” Caleb drawls, his emerald gaze sparkling as if he had just won the lotto. “Why am I not the least bit surprised to find you here? Did you and Nichols have a good meeting?” he says and then proceeds to fist the air in front of him.

“You’re a child,” I scold, punching him hard in the gut before bypassing him completely.
