Ace's jaw clenches. "Py got a visit from Freddie Kinnock and Stephen Maguire. Turns out, Freddie knows the girl's brother. He and Stephen were good friends with the guy."

"Prez, man," Reap says low. "Whatever the fuck you're tryin' to say, will you spit it the fuck out?"

"Their friend is a guy called Ruairi Mangan."

My heart stops and I stare at Ace. "Tell me you're fuckin' lyin'."

"Wouldn't do that to you, brother. You know I wouldn't. Pyro wants me to let you know that he and Wrath are goin' to her house and bringin' her and the kids to the clubhouse. They want them safe. He wanted me to tell you that."

My chest is burning with rage. I shouldn't have left. I should have stayed in Dublin. Had I have done, then I would be with her. I'd be making sure she's okay. Instead, I let my fears get the best of me and ran. Fuck.

"I need to get a flight," I say through gritted teeth.

"Eda's already on it. She's on to Makenna to see if she'll let you use her plane."

I take a deep breath. "Is Ailbhe okay?" I ask, needing him to reassure me that she is. I need him to tell me that my woman is fine.

"Py said he'll call me once he's at her house. Once he calls, I'll let you know."

"Tobias?" Eda calls out in her raspy voice. It's not as noticeable as it was when she first came to the clubhouse. It's fucked up how she came about having her voice. Her mom tried to kill her and would have if her father hadn't stepped in, but her father was a sonofabitch who was worse than her mom.

"In here, babe. You speak with Makenna?"

"Yeah, Kenna said the plane will be ready to go in an hour. She did ask to know who'd be boarding the plane."

"Preacher and I," Ace says. "My brother's girl's in trouble, so I'm goin'. I need you to stay here though, babe."

Eda nods as she slides into Ace's embrace. She flashes me a smile. "Of course."

"I'm comin' too," Reaper says, his voice filled with anger. "Ain't no fuckin' way I'm stayin' behind, and I'm pretty sure Esme would have my balls if I even thought about it."

"You got that, babe?" Ace asks her.

"On it. I'll let Kenna know. Make sure you're all ready to leave within the next ten minutes." Eda's perfect for Ace, and she's really grown into herself. She's no longer afraid of what could happen. She's free to be herself here and every brother loves her.

Ace's cell rings and Reaper moves toward me. I know my brother. He's getting close in case he needs to lock me down. But if something's happened to Ailbhe, I ain't bein’ locked down. I'll lose my damn mind.

"Brother," Ace answers. I can't hear what Pyro's saying, but whatever it is, it isn't good. Ace's body is locked tight and he won't look at me. Fuck.

"Preach," he says once he ends the call. "We need to get that flight."

"What we need is for you to tell me what Pyro said. What the fuck happened?"

He shakes his head. "Sorry, brother, but Ailbhe's in the hospital. Jed got to her last night."

My blood runs cold and rage fills my head. Fuck.

I'm going to enjoy killing that cunt. I'm going to strip his skin from him piece by piece.

My heart fucking sinks. Ailbhe... Christ, what the fuck have I done? I shouldn't have left her. I should have stayed in Dublin and kept an eye on her. I should have been with her.

I close my eyes, and for the first time since I was a boy, I say a silent prayer, pleading with God to make sure she and our baby are safe.

CHAPTER22

AILBHE

I'm trying to rush the kids out of the door. They're going to be late if they don't get a wriggle on. Today, I overslept, which means everyone has. Now, I have more energy and I'm eating and drinking—more than normal. But I'm so damn exhausted when my head hits the pillow, I'm sleeping like the dead.
