"You have to know something," Rome states, placing pressure on the bleeding wounds in his thighs. "Whose been watching Sky beside you?"

"I don't pay attention to that shit. Sky's a stuck-up bitch now that she has you and that other little guard over there watching her every move. Shouldn't one of you have seen someone stalking her?" Freddy retorts as he tries to cover the pain in his voice.

There's no way he hasn't seen or heard something, because every damn time I turn around before and after a concert he's in my personal space. No, he's lying. He has to be. It looks like the guys agree because Knox takes his knife and begins to dig it under Freddy's fingernails, plucking them off one by one. It takes everything in me to not gag at the sight, but I need to be strong right now. I can break down later in private.

"That's funny how you think it's true," Rome states. "Just give us a name, a clue, anything. Something to work with and just maybe it'll be enough to save you from death."

I'm really starting to think that's a lie. Freddy is going to die in this warehouse one way or another. So why would he give us answers? I doubt he will now. We lost the upper hand here and I don't see a way for us to get it back.

"We could just ask his brother," Knox muses. "If his brother just covers everything up for him he is bound to know the happenings of the tour. He'd have to have some idea of who killed Ezra and is stalking Sky. So if he isn't going to talk then I guess we can go pay him a little visit. Maybe bring him here and see how much he is going to talk."

Freddy jolts at the mention of his brother, so either he was lying, and his brother doesn't know everything, or he's trying to protect him. I doubt it's the latter. Honestly, I think he was talking a big game about his brother. I know the owner of the record label is a hard ass, but I always thought he was still fair for the most part. If he does know everything, Freddy is done, though I don't think he'd cover it up completely since it'd be hard to do with a full-time job.

"Ahh, so the brother doesn't know everything. Hmm," Knox taps his chin before looking to where Valentina and I stand. "Girls, why don't you go pay him a visit and see if you can bring him here to see his poor dear brother."

"NO!" Freddy shouts. "Leave my brother out of this!"

"Ah, so you do know more than you're saying," Rome chuckles. "Well, then I suggest you start talking because if you think Knox and I are bad. Well, you have no idea the methodicalness that Valentina has when she's torturing someone. We'll be sure to get our answers then."

"Look, all I know is that it's someone who has to have access to all the band members. Security is tight on the tour. Tighter ever since you all came along to offer security. Whoever killed Ezra and is stalking Sky has to be someone close and is trusted. That's all I know, I swear." Freddy explains in an effort to save his own life. He's beaten, stabbed, and bloodied like all hell. I'm not sure if I believe him completely but at this point what choice do we have?

"What about the payments you've been receiving into your account? They happen every time Sky gets a new letter, a new threat. Tell me that isn't a coincidence," Knox questions, putting pressure on the pressure point in Freddy's shoulder, making him collapse further into himself trying to escape the hold.

"I don't know," Freddy wails. "People owe me money. I just assumed it was payment from them."

"I don't believe that for a second but people do owe him money, I saw that when I was looking into him." The words left my mouth before I even realized I’d spoken. I was okay leaving the guys to get answers, but that one, I knew, was probably close to the truth, at least as far as Freddy believed.

"I doubt it, Sky," Knox answers looking over to me with pride in his eyes. "It's too much of a coincidence but we can look at that angle."

I stand just a little bit taller at his look. Maybe my past didn't ruin me as much as I thought if I could stand here and not cave in on myself in the face of violence. Just maybe I was healing and becoming stronger, far from the girl who hid behind a computer screen and avoided all forms of violence for the first six months of my time at Rockport Security.

"It was a good idea," Valentina states. "But I have to agree with Knox on this."

"I know," I turn to look at her. "I just don't think that Freddy knows where the money actually came from. He doesn't seem like the type to be that responsible with his money and keep track of who sends it."

"That's a good point. He most certainly is not," she agrees before turning her attention back to the guys.

"I don't think you have any more answers for us, so I think we will just leave you here for the animals to enjoy." I watch as Knox and Rome both turn their back to Freddy and begin walking to where we stand. Both of them ignore his shouts from behind them, completely tuning him out.

Thank god, this is over with. I think I'll stay behind my computer screen from now on. It's a whole lot safer and less gruesome than witnessing this. I'm also thankful that Knox isn't killing him himself. He isn't a murderer. No, Knox is a good guy and he protects his own. I'm one of his own.

"The guys will handle the cleanup. Why don't we head back to the hotel to clean up and go grab some dinner?" Knox asks like he didn't just torture someone for answers.

Silently, I follow them out of the warehouse and into the car. Later, I can begin processing the events from this afternoon. For now, I'm going to do exactly as Knox states and get cleaned up for dinner. If I can even stomach it later. I already know Gunner and Creed will come looking for me and demand some answers when they realize Freddy hasn't returned to the tour. I'm going to have to talk to Valentina to come up with a story to tell him. There is no way I want them to know the truth of what happened. The more they are protected the better. Then they can go on with their lives when this is all over. That was the whole point of this assignment in the first place.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Where the hell did Sky go? The past three hours we've searched all over her. I wanted to take her out to dinner and make sure he was doing okay after Sebastian told us he confronted her on the roof. When I checked her room she was gone, no one answered the door. I asked the front desk who only advised she had left with her security an hour and a half earlier and they hadn't seen her return yet.

Fuck! I run my hands over my head rubbing at it in frustration. I'm about to just chain the woman to my side. At least that way she would be kept out of trouble and I'd always have an eye on her. Watching her was always a habit of mine so why should it be any different now? If anything, it'd make more sense to watch her. She left us broken, came back trying to save us, and finally told us the truth. I'm pissed she left. I'll make her pay for leaving, for lying, for hurting us. But no one will ever take her from me again. No, Skylar Mason is my woman. I don't share.

"Anything yet?" Creed questions as he walks in the door to our suite. I paid off the front desk to alert us of her arrival the second she returned.

"Nope," I grunt, slamming my hand against the kitchen counter.

"We should really look into getting a tracker placed on her," Creed jokes.

"That is actually an excellent idea," my head pops up to look at my brother. If we placed a small tracker under her skin, she would never know, and we'd be able to know her every location. It's not the perfect answer, but it's better than chaining her against me. Though I prefer the latter, I know she would despise it. No, the tracker is a good idea, the best idea for now.
