"That's where you're wrong." Sebastian smiles darkly, grabbing a folded piece of paper out of his back pocket. I have a feeling I know exactly what that is, and I can't help the small smile that forms on my face. This is going to be awesome, I can't wait to watch William's face fall. "This paper would state that I do have a wife."

I watch as Sebastian slowly slides it across the desk. William grabs it hastily and begins to open and read the certificate. "No!" William snarls, slamming the paper back down on the desk. "There is no fucking way you are married to Skylar!

"We are, and have been sincebeforeyou had your little psychotic niece run her off." Sebastian's tone turns darker as he continues talking. If he wasn't on my side, I'd be terrified of him. "I knew something was going on. Sky was running scared, and we all saw the threats being left for her. The only way I knew how to protect her was to marry her, so that's what I did. It was also around the time our contract was about to renew, so I put that little clause in there as a way to protect Sky. She left to protect us," he pauses to turn and look at me with heat in his eyes before they darken as he turns back to William. "You chased her away. Scared her away. That wasn't okay. I could have let it slide until I found out Alexandra and Freddy[5]were both related to you."

"What do my fucked up brother and niece have to do with this?" William shouts.

"They hurt, Sky! Your niece fucking kidnapped her!" Sebastian roars, his anger barely contained.

If he wasn't holding my hand, I have no doubt he'd have William pinned to the window behind his desk by his throat. I'm tempted to let my man's hand go and let him do exactly that. Too bad it would just make our situation worse. We need to look like the bigger people leaving this. No violence can take place despite how much my soul is calling for bloodshed right now.

"The contract with Damned Embers is done, William," I call out, stepping in front of Sebastian and plastering my back to his chest. He gives me strength, and I know having me in his arms will keep him calmer than just holding my hand. "We are done speaking. You will never touch this band or my men again. Any contact will go through the lawyers. If you attempt to contact any one of us, we will file a report. Goodbye, William. I hope your company crashes and burns."

Pulling Sebastian behind me, I grasp Gunner's hand as well and lead them out of the room. I only look behind me to make sure Creed is following as well. Together as one, we walk out of the room and leave our past behind, exactly where it belongs. Today is a new day, and we are going to build a better future. One way or another.

Chapter Thirty-Five

"Well that was a freeing situation," Creed chuckles as we walk out of the glass door of the office building.

I'm thankful we will never need to set foot in that building again. As teenagers, fresh out of high school, we all felt on top of the world. Our parents instilled in us the sense of right and wrong and always read the fine print. Sebastian did that when we signed our first record. We didn't completely trust William but he gave us the best offer and what we wanted at the time. I never realized that Sebastian had gotten our contract changed to keep me safe. I'm thankful he did. It meant we could walk away free and clear today and not feel any guilt or like we gave a part of ourselves up.

Or well more of ourselves than we already did.

"Sky, are you okay?" Gunner questions as he opens the back door of the SUV for me.

"Yeah," I answer, smiling at him when I see him staring at me. "It's a huge relief off my chest. You all are safe and I am so thankful for that."

"You're safe too, Demon Queen." He leans forward to kiss me deeply. "We did this for you."

"I know," I choke back a sob, a few tears escaping from my eyes.

"What the fuck did you do, Gunner?" Sebastian snarls, pushing him out of the way so he can look at me. He lifts his hands up to cradle my face between them as he wipes away my tears with his thumbs. "Princess, why are you crying?" he demands. His tone is hard but I can see the worry in his eyes.

I don't know when things changed between us. When he went from hating me to still loving me. I'm probably crazy for just accepting it and not fighting back, but it's too late now. He's not forgiven completely. That will come with time but I like that he cares. I like that he's worried about me.

"I'm crying because I'm happy," I begin to explain. "This has been hanging over me for years, even before I disappeared. It was a black cloud hanging over my head, keeping me in line, keeping me hidden from you all. I watched from a distance, letting the men I love hate me just to protect them. That broke a part of me. A part that I never thought would find happiness again. Now, I don't need to worry. You all are free. I'm free. We can do and be whoever we want now."

"You are free, Sky," Bas demands, his eyes locked on mine. "You always will be, except from us. Princess, you are stuck with us and are never getting rid of us. If you ask me for a divorce, I will tie you to the bed and never let you go."

"So demanding," I tease, watching his eyes darken. "You most certainly are not completely forgiven for how you treated me, Bas," I state seriously. I may be accepting him into my life but he needs to earn his place. "Us being married doesn't mean shit if you don't treat me right. I will divorce your ass."

"Not happening," he growls and lets go of my face. "Put your seatbelt on. We're late." He steps back, shutting the car door on me before I can argue. Asshole.

Just to be a pain in the ass, I sit there without putting my seatbelt on. Creed is beside me and shakes his head as he watches me defy Sebastian's order. It's like Bas forgot I don't take orders from anyone. I'm not afraid of him, and I'm sure as fuck not going to do what he demands when he's not listening to me.

"Skylar," Bas growls when he climbs into the driver's seat and looks in the rearview mirror. "I told you to put your seatbelt on."

"Full name won't get me to listen. I'm not your plaything and I don't take orders, especially from the man who only just forgave me for leaving." I stare him down in the mirror until I can tell he is caving. Sebastian sighs, shakes his head, and then looks me in the eyes. "Please put your seatbelt on, Princess." His voice is softer, but I can see how hard that was for him.

Progress. I'll take it.

"Sure, Bas, I'll put my seatbelt on for you." Reaching back, I grab the belt, pull it across my body, and click it into place. "Where to?"

Sebastian glances at Gunner and Creed before looking back at me. "It's date night."

"Date night?" My eyes widen as I look at the guys. Sebastian pulls away from the curb, lips tight, refusing to answer my question. "Who said I was going to date you all? Especially you, Bas," I demand, gripping my hands together in my lap. "I expect some groveling. A lot of it."

"Groveling?" Gunner questions, turning around from the front passenger seat to look back at me. "Demon Queen, I've already done my groveling, and so has Creed."
