The group turned to find an attractive man who had eyes only for Lillian. It was as if the others weren’t even there.

“I’m Oliver. Can I interest you in a drink?”

Fiona watched Lillian swoon instantly as if under a spell. All she could do was nod. Oliver stuck out his arm. Lillian took it and disappeared with him. But not before turning to give them an excited smile and a wink.

“Okay, now I’m jealous. It’s my birthday, after all,” Alexis whined.

“Your birthday, huh?” An incredibly tall, god-like man spoke directly behind Alexis.

She jumped and introduced herself. “Oh, hi. Yeah. I’m Alexis.” She bit her bottom lip before flashing the man a devastating smile.

He returned the gesture and gave a slight bow. “I’m Magnus. Perhaps I may get the birthday girl a drink?”

“Please.”

Then there were two. Chloe and Fiona exchanged uneasy glances and looked around the room.

“There’s a library over here,” Chloe pointed out. She walked toward a room filled with books, and Fiona followed quickly and nervously behind her.

It looked more like a public library than a private one. It was filled with cozy couches, chairs, a fireplace, and endless rows of books.

Chloe instantly curled up on a chair with a book and looked right at home. Fiona’s attention was constantly diverted to the voices and commotion going on outside.

“You okay in here?”

Chloe didn’t even look up from her book. “Absolutely. Go have fun. I’m perfect.”

Fiona smiled and ventured back to the rest of the party. She wanted to people-watch.

The shifters were gorgeous, and they fascinated her. The conversations she could hear were dirtier and sexier than any smut novel she had ever read. Many couples were hooking up right there or finding someone to meander outside with.

My God,Fiona mused as she followed the most recent couple outside.

It was the first time she realized most of the light inside was coming from the moon through the massive windows. Throughthe glass, she could see a pool, gardens, and endless acres where shifters were running around naked with each other.

Fiona’s interest was piqued, and she was captivated. She was so consumed with the ongoings of the supernatural outside that she didn’t see the man in front of her. She bumped into him, and her purse dropped.

“Oh, shit! I’m so sorry.” She bent to pick up her purse and the contents that had spilled out.

“Don’t worry about it.”

His deep voice sent shivers down her spine. She could feel tension in the air as she snatched up her ChapStick.

Frightened suddenly, Fiona found a sudden fascination with the brick underneath her feet. She could smell him. That alone excited her. Slowly, she forced her gaze up. The intensity of his smokey gray eyes took her breath away.

Her body responded to him instantly. She wanted him to take her right then and there. She wanted to run her hands across his muscular chest. She wanted to taste him.

She had never seen anyone so perfect. He was gruff, tall, and so incredibly handsome that her mouth watered. She swallowed and shook her head, trying to clear it.

“Sorry,” she repeated. “I didn’t see you.” Not knowing what else to do, she offered her hand to him to shake. “I’m Fiona.”

CALLUM

The mystery woman he knew to be his mate wanted him. Standing this close to her, Callum not only smelled it but sensed it. She had his wolf riled, even more so than the full moon. The beast stretched itself just under his skin.

The edge of her mask hardly hid her darkening cheeks. She stared up at him, unblinking and mouth agape. Callum waited and savored the moment. One had to know the proper time to strike and when to wait for more information.
