Fiona smirked. “What? You don’t think having your photo taken at a sex party wouldn’t be fun?”

They watched as a barely-clad woman stepped into the booth and closed the door. They waited to see what happened next, and when the woman didn’t come back out, they glanced at each other.

“Is she still in there?” Chloe asked. “How many pictures is she taking?”

One of the valets waved at them. “Go on in,” he hollered. “She’s done.”

When none of them moved, Alexis grabbed Lillian’s arm. “Come on. If we stand around looking stupid, they’ll know we have no clue what we’re doing.”

“We don’t have a clue,” Chloe confirmed as the foursome crowded inside the small space.

A screen on the wall where the camera probably was had “Welcome to the Masquerade.” When Fiona closed the door, the room was pitch black.

“Shouldn’t there be some kind of light in here? How can the camera …”

“Ow! Who stepped on my toes …”

“Stop pushing …"

A countdown began on the screen.

“Get ready,” Lillian said. “First one serious then the rest are fun.”

When the number ticked to zero, Fiona smiled as a hiss met her ears.

“What’s that sound …”

“There wasn’t a flash …”

“This isn’t a photo booth,” Fiona realized.

Chloe started coughing as Fiona felt a fine mist settle on her skin.

“The door is locked! They know! They’re trying to kill us!” Lillian screamed and began pounding on the door. “Help! Somebody …”

Light suddenly filtered into the room from the wall opposite the entrance. The women spun around to see a huge man dressed in a tux staring at them through a door he had opened. Beyond him, the lobby of the mansion was filled with mingling people, including the lady who walked in before them.

“Is everything okay, ladies?” he asked. “Is anyone injured?”

Alexis’s nervous laugh filled the space. “Of course not. We’re just playing a joke on one of our friends.” Alexis grabbed Lillian’s arm. “It’s her first time, and we were having a little fun.”

Alexis stepped out onto the marble floor and leaned toward the man. Whispering to him, she said, “We told her it was a photo booth.”

The man’s brow lifted as he took in a deep breath through his nose and then chuckled. “Quite the surprise, then. Do you have the key?” Alexis held it up. He swept his arm toward the lobby. “Please enjoy your evening.”

The door on the other side of the booth opened, and a couple stepped in. Fiona pushed her friends toward the crowd to get away from whatever the hell just happened. They were alive, so she put the incident to the back of her mind for now and looked around.

“I knew this was for the bold and beautiful, but this is, like, elite shit,” she whispered.

“Holy shit, these people are hot. Is that, like, a rule or something?” Lillian asked.

Fiona looked around in awe. “It has to be,” she said quietly. The outfits, the hair, and the faces of those who weren’t wearing masks made her feel inferior. Ugly, even.

She watched in silence with the others. People were getting hot and heavy right in the middle of everyone else. Fiona felt herself moistening at the blatant display of sex all around her.

Men were actively stopping by the group and hitting on them, but none had really made Fiona or the others eager to leave each other just yet.

“Hey, there, gorgeous.”
