Remy nodded, then turned to Loki and Easton. “Enjoy your night.”

Loki cleared his throat. Fuck it. He hadn’t even noticed Remy entering the bar. Was he here with anyone?

“You here with someone?” he asked.

“No.” Remy turned away.

Fuck it.

“Want to sit with us?”

Remy stilled, then turned back. “You don’t have to offer that.”

“Don’t make it weird, man. Just sit.”

Remy nodded and sat.

“This is Easton.”

“Ahh, the private investigator. You looked into my background?”

Easton shot him a look, then he smirked. “Yep.”

“Just as well I have nothing to hide, huh?” Remy replied calmly.

“You moved around a lot,” Easton said.

“We all have our demons chasing us,” Remy replied mildly. “Isa?”

“Girls’ night,” Loki said, knowing what he was asking. “They’re at our place putting shit on their faces and talking about men, I guess.”

Remy nodded. “Good. She needs people she can talk to.”

Were they talking about him? About Remy? Shit. He hadn’t thought of that. But he’d come here to talk to his friend.

To his surprise, they all fell into an easy conversation. Remy didn’t say much, but he seemed content to sit there and mostly listen.

When Easton headed off, it was nearly nine.

And Loki had no idea what to say. He kept sneaking looks at Remy, wanting to start a conversation and not knowing how.

This was not him.

He was never tongue-tied like this.

“Guess I’ll head off,” Remy said after a few moments of silence.

Loki groaned. “Fuck, I’m making this awkward.”

Remy eyed him. “You’ve got a right. Circumstances are strange.”

Yeah. That was one way of putting it.

“You don’t have to decide everything in a day.”

“Guess not,” Loki replied.

“It’s enough you agreed to share her.”
