Luckily, Remy had his back. He had come over to stand behind Gary. “You need to leave. Now.”

Gary turned. “Oh, look. It’s the dumb fucking cowboy. What are you gonna do? What do you care? Or are you fucking this loser?”

“If you don’t leave and stay away from Loki and Isa, I’m going to make your life a misery,” Remy said quietly. “You can say goodbye to life as you know it. It’ll be over.”

There was a darkness in Remy’s voice that Loki appreciated. That called to him.

“You can’t do fuck all to me!” Gary roared, throwing himself at Remy.

Loki got up, ready to jump in. But before he could move a step, Remy had Gary on the floor, his arm pressed up his back.

Ed rushed over as Gary started yelling. “Get off me! You asshole!”

O’Ryan sneered down at Gary. “You’re banned for life, Gary.”

“You can’t do that!” he yelled as O’Ryan nodded to Remy who stepped back and away from the other man.

Remy walked over so he stood next to Loki. They watched Gary go for O’Ryan. Ed ended up having to cuff him.

“Why isn’t he being arrested?” Gary yelled, nodding to Remy. “He touched me!”

“And there’s more than fifty witnesses ready to testify that you went for him first,” Ed said. “Not to mention you tried to attack Noah.”

“It’s all his fault! Fucking Loki!” Gary yelled as Ed led him out.

Isa appeared suddenly, throwing herself at Loki. He held her close, kissing the top of her head.

“Hey, I’m fine. You weren’t worried about me, were you?”

“No,” she scoffed. “You can handle Gutless Gary. But I’m glad you didn’t get into a fight.”

“Thanks, man,” he said to Remy who stepped over to rub Isa’s back. She smiled up at the cowboy.

“No thanks needed. He’s really got it in for you, though.”

Loki sighed. “Yeah, both of our grandfathers were good friends back in the day. He’s full of shit, though. This town was founded long, long before that. However, they were in business together. They built a number of buildings and houses in this town.

“When they parted ways because Gary’s grandfather tried to seduce my grandma, well, things weren’t good between them. My granddad owned the land where I live fair and square, though. He invested his money from the business wisely. Gary’s granddad went broke.”

“Asshole hasn’t got a reason to blame you,” Mikey said.

“I’m going to look into him some more,” Easton said. “There has to be a reason why he’s gotten worse.”

Remy looked over to Easton and nodded. “Appreciate that. You find anything that I could use to put him down and keep him there, I’d appreciate knowing that too.”

Easton raised his eyebrows, and Loki knew he was hiding his amusement. “Sure, I can tell you. And Loki.”

Remy just grunted.

Bossy bastard.

But Loki wasn’t really irritated. He knew the other guy was looking out for him.

That made a big difference.

“Daddy! Look at me! I’m riding!” Isa grinned down at where Remy held the reins of the very gentle, older mare he’d selected for her to ride.
