“So you are, baby girl.”

Her grin was wide, her eyes sparkling with happiness. It was Saturday morning and Remy had picked her up and brought her out to Sanctuary Ranch to ride the horses. Loki was off with his friends for the day and he got to spend some time alone with his baby girl.

“You are doing such a good job,” he praised her. “You’re a natural.”

“It’s the cowgirl boots, Daddy,” she informed him. “You can’t be bad at riding a horse if you’re wearing cowgirl boots.”

“Cowgirl boots?” he asked.

“Yeah, cause these ones are pink and sparkly.”

Her entire outfit was adorable. She was wearing tight pants with a short, long-sleeved pink dress over them. And the cowboy boots. He’d also insisted she wear a jacket.

“Right, how about we go get some lunch?” he asked her.

“Nooo. I want to keep riding!”

“Baby girl, I’ve heard your stomach rumble three times. You need to eat. If you’re a good girl, I’ll bring you back another day.”

She sighed. “Okay, Daddy.”

He helped her down and showed her how to take care of her horse. Then he grabbed the picnic lunch he’d packed them. They walked to a quiet area to set it up. Sitting down, they ate in silence.

“This place is so beautiful,” she said as he started to pack everything up.

“Not as beautiful as you,” he replied.

She grinned at him.

“I’m just going for a walk!”

Isa turned to Remy at the sound of a woman’s voice.

“Caley, you need to come home and rest.”

Caley?TheCaley? The one who lived with the two docs and who wrote her favorite books?

Holy. Crap.

“I want some fresh air. You don’t need to follow me.”

A blonde woman stepped out of the trees. She was gorgeous, even frowning and glaring back at the big man with dark-blond hair who was stomping along behind her.

Unfortunately, because she was too busy scowling at him, she wasn’t watching where she was going and she ended up tripping on a tree root.

Isa gasped.

Thankfully, the large man with her had reflexes like a cat. He jumped forward and grabbed her, carefully drawing her against him.

Caley gasped for air, looking frightened. “What . . . how . . .”

Isa watched as she rubbed her hand over her stomach. Was that a small bump? Was she pregnant?

“Are you all right?” the man asked, frantically running his hands over her.

“I’m fine. I didn’t fall. I’m fine. We’re fine. Daddy, we’refine.”

The man stopped his frenetic patting, frowning as he put his hands on his hips. “You nearly tripped.”
