“No, you’re gonna stay here with Ms. Simone and Uncle Ant. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I sighed when she abandoned the toy and staggered towards me with her arms in the air. Instead of picking her up, I kneeled and hugged her. “Are you going to be good?” I snorted when she smiled, stuck two fingers in her mouth, and shook her head.

At least she didn’t lie.

“Be good, and I’ll have a special treat for you tomorrow, okay?”

“Okay.”

“Good. Go play with Nori,” I said, hoping to distract her long enough to leave the house.

My purse hummed with an incoming message, and I spent my trip to the living room searching for my cell phone that had fallen to the bottom of my bag.

It’s ridiculous that I have all these pockets and don’t use them.

Jonathan:How should I dress tonight?

I want you with nothing on would be too aggressive, but he likes that shit.

Sex with Jonathan was different. Don’t get me wrong, sex with Rory was ten out of ten, but there was a particular thrill with Jonathan. He was the epitome of a gentleman in the streets but a freak in the sheets. He was every bit of a Dominant Daddy, but I bet I could also make him call me Mommy.

Kierra:Suit and tie.

Jonathan: Suit and tie? I’m intrigued. Tell me more.

Kierra:Be ready by six.

I nearly stumbled over my feet when I found Kiyah and Grant sitting on the couch holding hands.

Mmmmmm…uh uh. Kiyah, that’s your stepbrother. Yes, I’m manifesting it. I’m not Eliza. I’m not messing up a good thing. If there’s a better man out there for me, then he better show up quickly. Until then? I’ll plan accordingly.

“Hey, you guys. I’m leaving. We’ll be picking you all up tomorrow afternoon for the aquarium.”

“Okay, bye,” Casey responded as he crashed two military action figures together.

“Grant?”

He finally tore his eyes from the television screen and pinned them on me. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Ms. Kierra. We’ll behave.”

“Thank you. I’ll sleep easy tonight.”

That won’t be the reason for my peaceful sleep, but it’s good to know they won’t be acting a donkey.

“Kiyah, make sure you behave, okay?”

She popped her head up and said, “Yes, Mommy.”

“If you need me, you can call me.”

“What if it’s late at night?”

“Especially when it’s late at night. If you need me to come get you, I will, okay?”

“Okay, Mommy. I can’t wait to go to the aquarium tomorrow.”

“Me too,” I said, smiling as I hugged her. I moved her down the couch discreetly, just a smidge to put some distance between her and Grant.

Heels clacking against the hardwood floors caught my attention. “Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go,” Simone chanted before jogging out of the house.
