Chapter 8

Tamsyn

Why do I do the things I do? Why do I drink so damn much? I know what happens after. The hangovers are insane. I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck, but I still have to get up and keep going.

I groan as I roll over and yawn. My face feels tight and sticky. I reach up and touch my face, and I nearly throw up. Again? Are you fucking kidding me? Is that cum?

I sit up way too quickly, causing my head to spin before I brace myself and climb off the bed. I’m in the bathroom in no time. I gag when I see it, nearly losing it in the sink while I turn it on and grab a cloth. I put soap in the cloth and scrub my face raw, not knowing who the hell did that to me. It wasn’t Brady that much, I’m sure of. He likes it when I’m awake and gagging at the sight of him.

When my face is clean, I brush my teeth, pull my hair up on top of my head, and secure it there. I walk back into my bedroom and into the closet to get dressed for the day. I don’t care that I didn’t shower or that I probably smell like a goddamn liquor factory. I completely forgot about the charity even today. All princesses have to be present, although I don’t know why it matters.

I shove my feet into my favorite chuck’s before I leave the room, grabbing my phone off the charger as I go. I slide it into my pocket and get down the stairs, thanking God that mom and Brady went on their honeymoon last night. A week without them is going to be fucking perfect.

I grab a banana and a bottle of water before heading out to my car. Climbing in, I toss everything into the seat before calling Angel and connecting it to Bluetooth.

“You’re alive?” she mumbles into the line.

“Barely. I forgot the fucking charity event today,” I tell her as I back out of the driveway.

“That’s not today.”

“It is today. I’m on my way. Get dressed,” I tell her, listening to her groan on the other end. I smile as I hang up the phone and drive to her house. I pull into her driveway and wait for her to come out as I eat my banana and drink my water.

It seems like forever goes by when she finally comes out looking like the perfect princess. You’d never know she was drunk as fuck the night before, judging by how she looks right now. I’m not really sure how we became friends, to be honest. We’re not much alike.

“You look beautiful,” I tell her as she plays with her hair. She glances over at me and makes a face.

“You look … homeless.”

“Appreciate that. You ready?”

“Why do we have to be there?” she whines as I pull out and onto the road.

“To do all the dirty work? You know we’re in charge of the games and shit,” I remind her.

“Tamsyn, I love you, I do, but it’s entirely too early to be in charge of anything,” she whines a little more.

“I don’t know if you know this or not, but it’s actually two in the afternoon.”

“Are you serious?” she asks, her eyes widening.

“Yeah. We’re late,” I tell her.

“Shit. My dad’s going to lose his shit,” she mumbles.

“I’m just glad my mom is out of town,” I tell her.

“You’re lucky. You don’t have to hear shit for being late.” I nod my head as we drive to the park where the charity event is being held. I find us a place to park, and we both climb out and head toward the crowd. When we get close enough, Mrs. Anders, one of the queens, spots us.

“You’re late.”

“Sorry,” I reply softly, not wanting to piss her off too badly. She looks us over before pulling out her clipboard and ordering us around. I grab the container of stuffed animals and walk across the park to the tent she assigned us. A chill runs down my spine, but I shake it off like it’s nothing. I set a container down and start placing the items on the table in front of us when I hear someone whistle. Angel and I both turn to look over our shoulders to see Levi and Silas coming our way.

“It’s too early for you two,” Angel tells them as they grin and keep coming.

“It’s never too early for me,” Silas denies as he pushes up against her. Levi raises his eyebrows as he watches the two of them before turning to me.

“What’s up?” he asks. I shrug. Why is he even talking to me? He and I don’t speak that much.
