“For now, but remember who you belong to.” He shoves away from me and starts for the door. Rylan reaches for the handle, and when he turns to look back at me, our eyes lock, and the darkness I see in his sucks the air from my lungs.

“Don’t let me catch anyone touching what’s mine, Syn.” There’s a warning in there. One that causes me to shiver.

Rylan walks out of my room, and I suck in as much air as I can as my ass slides down the wall and onto the floor. I pull my knees up to my chest and lower my head down on top of them.

What the hell just happened here?

Chapter 11

Rylan

School. I fucking hate school, but according to the Kings, you have to graduate college. I’ve never really given a shit about school, but I know what has to be done in order to succeed. I do my work and get good grades, but today is different. Today, I want to see Syn and she’s been avoiding me.

“Where are you going?” Angel asks when I pull the door open and hold it for her with a grin.

“To Art History,” I tell her.

“You don’t have Art History,” she replies.

“Your friend has been avoiding me.”

“Yeah, she said she was going to. What did you do anyway?” I just grin at her, and she shakes her head before walking into her class. I pull my hoodie up over my head and keep my head down as I sit in the back of the room. Syn is already in here when Angel takes the seat next to her. She doesn’t tell her I’m here.

The professor starts class not paying any attention to me; thank fuck. I sit in the back of the classroom, keeping my eyes on her. I know she can feel my gaze as she keeps squirming in her seat. She peeks left and right, but she doesn’t turn to look behind her.

I do this throughout the whole class, and right before it’s over, I stand and sneak out the door. Then I wait. If Syn thinks she can hide from me, she’s fucking crazy. I’ll hunt her ass to the end of the fucking earth if I have to.

The doors open, and people start walking out when I see her. I step up behind her, wrapping one hand around her mouth, the other around her waist, dragging her back into me. I know she’s trying to scream around my hand, but it’s not doing her any good.

“Miss me?” I whisper in her ear. Her body slowly relaxes when I pull my hand away from her mouth. She spins in my arms and glares daggers at me.

“What the hell are you doing?” she snaps.

“You’re avoiding me.”

“And?”

“And I don’t fucking like it,” I hiss at her. She crosses her arms over her chest, and I can’t help but let my gaze drift down. She quickly drops her arms, causing me to laugh.

“No one cares what you like, Rylan. Don’t you have people to annoy?”

“Not right now, I don’t.”

“Great,” she sighs as she rolls her eyes. I like it. I like it when Syn is heated like this. It makes her sexier than she already was. “If you want something, spit it out. I have class.”

“No, you don’t.”

“Yeah, I do.”

“You think I don’t know your schedule, Syn?” Now her eyes snap to mine and hold there, her lips slightly parted.

“Why are you stalking me?”

“Why not?”

“So you admit you’re stalking me?” she asks, resting her hand on her hip. I step into her, closing the space between us. I bring my hand up and cup her cheek watching as she sucks in a breath at my touch.

“It’s not really stalking if you’re mine now, is it?” She reaches up and tries to slap my hand away, but I don’t let her. She scoffs but doesn’t try again.
