I can’t keep track of time. I’m fucking lost as so many things run through my mind. What the hell could have happened to her?

We’re pulling up to her house when I notice her mom’s car is gone, so I assume she and Brady aren’t home. Before the car even comes to a stop, I launch myself out of the car and take off toward the front door. I throw it open and run up the stairs, taking them two at a time. My boots pound on the tile floor as I race into her room. Angel stands there with tears running down her cheeks and her arms wrapped around herself.

“What the hell happened?” I roar.

“I don’t know. She’s just sitting there! I tried to get her out, but she wouldn’t move. Hell, she’s barely even blinked her eyes!” Angel cries. The guys come rushing in as I move into the bathroom. Syn sits in the bathtub, trembling. Her whole body shakes as she stares ahead.

“Syn?” I call her name softly, but she doesn’t move. I step closer and kneel next to the tub, resting my hand on her arm. Syn screams and jerks her arm away from me.

“Get Angel in the car. We’re taking them to my house,” I inform the guys. I stand back up and walk into her room, grabbing her blanket before walking back into the bathroom. I lay the blanket out on the floor before reaching for her again. She screams, tears running down her cheeks. I don’t care when she starts to fight me.

“That’s it, baby. Fight me,” I encourage as I lift her out of the tub, kicking and screaming. I balance her on the edge and wrap her in the blanket making sure she can’t swing at me when I carry her.

After a second, though, her head drops over onto my shoulder, and I know she’s worn herself out.

Leaving her room, I walk down the steps and out the front door to the waiting SUV. I climb in, and Silas closes the door behind me. Once he’s in, Levi takes off, driving toward my house.

Angel sobs next to me, but Silas has her. I look down at Syn, and she stares blankly at nothing. She doesn’t seem to be drugged or drunk, for that matter. I’m not sure what the hell is happening to her.

We get to my house, and we all climb out. I carry Syn up the stairs and in the front door as my dad emerges from his office.

“What’s going on?” he asks, nodding toward her.

“I don’t know. Angel found her like this,” I tell him. He scrubs his hand over his face and motions for me to take her upstairs. I do and head into my room, where I lay her on the bed. My dad is right behind me.

“Is she sick?” I reach for her forehead and rest my hand there.

“I don’t think so.”

“Drugs? Drinking?”

“No.”

“I’m calling the doctor to come look at her,” Dad says. I nod my head as he leaves the room, and the others come in.

“What can we do?”

“Just sit with Angel. I’m going to change her,” I tell them. They leave the room, closing the door softly behind them. I reach for Syn and peel the wet shirt off her, and she doesn’t stop me, but that’s when I notice she isn’t wearing any pants or panties. I lift the shirt to get it off her when I see the bruise. Rage courses through me, and I have to force myself to take a step back from her so that I don’t hurt her. Someone had their hands on her.

Taking a few calming breaths, I step back up to her and finish taking her shirt and bra off. With the wet clothes off her, I move her off her blanket and underneath mine. Syn never blinks or bats an eye. This isn’t her. This is not like her at all.

I step back and look at her under my blanket, staring at the ceiling. She doesn’t move, and that’s what pisses me off.

A few minutes tick by, and I stay still, watching her when my dad comes back in.

“Rylan, the doctor is here,” he announces as I look over my shoulder and see her. I’m almost thankful it’s a fucking woman this time because I don’t know if I could have handled a man touching her right now. I nod and step away from the bed, turning to leave the room.

My dad motions for me to follow him down to his office before he closes the door behind us.

“There’s something we should discuss,” he states.

“Right now?”

“Yes.” He takes a deep breath and nods to the chair in front of his desk. I walk over and take a seat as he does the same. Then I watch him and wait.

“I’ve been watching you as have the other Kings.”

“And?”
