We head in and climb the stairs to my room, where I’ve already begun my little project.

“Okay. So what are we doing?” Silas asks as he looks at the ceiling. “Are those holes?”

“Yeah, I drilled them earlier. You got the hooks, right?” He nods and tosses me a look as I set up the ladder and climb up to insert them.

I make sure they’ll hold, and they do. Then I have Levi toss me the rope, and I loop it through the hooks, letting the rest hang.

“I have no fucking idea what you’re doing with that,” Silas adds. I laugh, and when I’m done, I climb down and take it all in.

“Why in the bedroom?” Levi asks. I cut my eyes at him and then they both get it.

“Oh, you’re into some kinky shit!” Silas finally says, causing us all to laugh. “I always knew you were odd.”

“Why is that odd?”

“Didn’t you burn her neck with rope once?” he asks, and I nod.

“And?”

“Isn’t this going to burn?” he asks, tugging on the rope.

“Not as bad. It’s softer than the other one I had,” I tell them. Levi stands there, pulling on the ropes and moving them around as if he’s trying to figure out what I’m going to do with them.

It’s funny to watch him and know he doesn’t do the things I do to women.

I clean up the mess and move the ladder out before we head back to my dad’s house. Everything else I will set up when I’m done there.

Levi and Silas take off while I head to my dad’s office. He’s sitting at his desk as I expected him to be.

“What are you doing here?” he asks.

“I live here.” Dad chuckles at my answer.

“You know what I mean,” he adds.

“Just came to talk.”

“About what?”

“The Crows.” He nods his head, sets the pen down, and steeples his fingers in front of him, resting his elbows on the desk.

“The Gods have taken care of the disposal of the bodies. From what we’ve gathered, there are very few left, as well as their leaders. Without their younger Crows, they have nothing really.”

“So they’re done?”

“It looks that way. If not now, then soon. They won’t be able to keep their operations running without the younger Crows. They aren’t much different than we are in that aspect. What they have was passed down, much like we do here as Kings.”

“So why not take out the older Crows? The leaders?” I ask him.

“We’ve discussed that too. We haven’t come to a final decision on it. There are a few who don’t think killing them would benefit us, so what’s the point?” he explains.

“And the others?”

“They think we should send our younger Kings to do the killing,” he adds.

“I wouldn’t be against it,” I inform him. He laughs now.

“I didn’t think you would. You like getting your hands dirty and that’s why you’re well liked in our organization.”
