“It’s a very distinct smell. Not one you forget easily,” he says as I move around the bed and walk backward, keeping my eyes on him.

“Just leave me alone, Brady. I’ll tell my mom. I’ll tell the Kings.” He laughs.

“You think they’d believe you, Tam? The little whore I can make you out to be?”

“I’m not.”

“For me, you are,” he says, letting the flame die. He doesn’t stop coming toward me, and that’s what’s making me nervous. My insides clench and churn. The thought of throwing up crosses my mind.

“Just go away, Brady,” I say a little louder this time. Brady laughs and lunges for me. A scream rips from my throat as he tackles me to the floor. He rips the front of my shirt open as I struggle against him, trying to get him off me. That’s when I see the lighter flicker to life again. I still instantly, and he laughs.

“Does it scare you?” I shake my head and start to fight again. I reach up, clawing at his face, when the flame touches the flesh on my arm. I scream from the pain and knee him in the nuts. The flame fades, and the lighter hits the floor. Brady is grabbing himself as I try to run, but he grabs my ankle and jerks me to the floor. I fall hard, my hands slamming against the floor. My wrist screams in pain, feeling as though I have shattered the damn bone.

“Get off me!” I scream. He flips me onto my stomach quickly and shreds my shorts like they were nothing. Now that I’m naked, I’m panicking. Where the hell are the guys? Why aren’t they coming in to help me?

“Stupid little whore,” he yells as I hear his belt loosen behind me. I claw at the floor, but his hand is still wrapped around me, keeping me in place. Tears fall down my cheeks as he shifts behind me. Then I feel his cock pressing against me, and I vomit all over the floor. Just as he’s about to violate me again, the door bursts open, and men in masks come rushing in. It all happened so quickly that I didn’t have time to register it.

One of them kicks Brady in the face and he falls back as I scramble away from them. I hurry into the corner of the room and pull my knees up to my chest. I watch as the men hogtie Brady and drag him from the room as someone else enters. I can barely see through the tears when I look up. The man reaches up and pulls the mask from his face, and I sigh in relief when I see it’s Matt. He offers me his hand, and I take it, letting him pull me to my feet.

“Get some clothes on. I’ll take you to Angel’s.” I nod my head as he looks the other way so he doesn’t see me naked. I hurry and pull clothes out of the closet and slip them on.

“I’m dressed.” He turns to face me and nods as he comes closer. He lifts his hand and places it on my cheek gently.

“You did good, Tamsyn.”

“Is it enough?”

“I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. With the rape kit from before and now this on video, we should have everything we need,” he tells me.

“And how long does this take?” I want him gone. I want him out of here and out of our lives.

“Give me a week. A week to organize everything and bring the Kings together.”

“And Rylan?”

“He will know when I bring the Kings together for the meeting.” I shiver. Keeping this a secret from Ry doesn’t sit right with me, but I promised Matt I would. I nod my head as Matt leads me out of my room and down the stairs. We’re out the front door when my mom pulls in.

“Oh God,” I whisper.

“You get in the car, and I’ll handle her.” I nod my head and do as I’m told, even when I hear her calling out to me. Matt gets in her face, and then I see him wrap his hand around her throat like Ry does to me, only this is different. This is deadlier.

Mom’s eyes widen as she listens intently to whatever Matt’s saying to her. Her eyes shift to the car I’m in, but the blacked-out windows keep her from seeing me. I shift in my seat, not sure what I’m feeling right now. Her eyes move back to Matt’s, and I see her nod her head once before he releases her. She turns on her heel and stomps into the house, slamming the door behind her. Matt turns and walks to the car, climbing into the passenger seat.

“To Angel’s, yes?” he asks me over the seat. I nod my head and look out the window at my house as we take off.

Once we arrive at Angel’s, Matt walks me to the door where Mr. Mather, Angel’s dad, also a King, meets us.

“Angel is in her room,” he tells me, ushering me inside. I glance back over at Matt, and he nods his head, letting me know it’s okay to go. I hear the men talking, but I don’t know what they’re saying as I make my way up to her room. I fling the door open, and Angel looks up from her phone.

“You’re here,” she says, smiling at me. I can’t take it anymore. I let it all go, letting my guard down, and burst into tears. Angel rushes to me, pulling me into her arms as I cry, and I find myself wanting Rylan. I want his arms around me; I want him holding me.

After I settle down, she sees the burn and my wrist. She immediately goes to her dad but doesn’t get any information. He warns her not to ask questions and she doesn’t. Mr. Mather sends a doctor to check out my wrist, but he says it’s not broken, only sprained. He wraps it and advises me to ice it which we do. He also applied burn cream to my arm and wrapped that up, too.

“Can I do anything? You want anything?” Angel asks when they leave. It’s three in the morning now.

“No. I think I just need to sleep.”

“The doctor said to take these,” she says, passing me some pills and water.
