“You think so?” he asks. I nod my head. I didn’t want Syn to have to go through anything else. She’s already been through so much, and the thought of having her hurt again causes my chest to clench.

“Yeah. I know it is.”

“How do you think they’re going to take this?” he questions, nodding toward the others. I run my hand over my face and shrug.

“I don’t really know. We’ve talked about leaving before, getting out, and moving on. They were all for it, although I don’t know how the girls felt.”

“It’s a fresh start. I’m sure all of you will do fine.”

“What about you, Hunter? What are you going to do?” He chuckles and leans back in the chair, resting his hands behind his head.

“I’m a God, Rylan. I’m going to continue being a God.”

“You don’t want out?” I ask him. He shakes his head.

“Not anytime soon. Maybe when I’m older, or I find something like what you have. For now, this is what I am,” he says.

“You know I appreciate what you did for me.”

“We’re brothers, right? It’s what family should do for each other.” I nod my head as I watch Syn again. I can’t look at her enough. I could have lost her. More than once. What if she wasn’t here right now? What the fuck would I do then?

Hunter stands from the chair and offers his hand. I stand up and pull him into a hug.

“Thanks, brother.”

“I got your back, Rylan. Stay in touch,” he says before he pulls away and walks toward the car. I watch him go before turning back to the others. Silas and Levi walk over, and we talk about what the plans are now we have nothing. Well, not exactly nothing. When we were exiled from the Kings, they took our bank accounts, too. What they didn’t realize is that the three of us had off shore accounts set up to funnel money to. They think they left us with nothing, but we actually have a lot. More than enough to live off of.

“You glad this shit is over?” Silas asks me.

“Fuck yeah. It was a big mess.” They both nod. “Is Becky okay being out?”

“I don’t know just yet. We don’t know that much about each other,” Levi responds. That’s true. I guess it’ll take time.

“So, where are we heading?” I ask the two of them.

“I don’t fucking know. Maybe ask the girls?” Silas suggests, nodding toward them. The three of us agree and walk over to where the girls are playing in the pool. I tug my shirt off, tossing it to the side when I slip in and catch Syn around the waist. I pull her back against me, holding her tightly.

“Where do you want to go, Syn?”

“Anywhere.”

“I mean it. You choose.” Syn spins in my arms and presses her lips to mine.

“Wherever you are is where I want to be, Ry.”

“That doesn’t help me,” I tell her. She smiles, and it takes my goddamn breath away. If I had to go back and redo everything, I wouldn’t change a fucking thing because every action has led me to her.

“What about somewhere with a beach?” she whispers.

“California has beaches,” I remind her.

“I meant anywhere but California.”

“Don’t want to stick around and see what kind of trouble we can cause?” I tease her. She shakes her head quickly, and my smile fades just as fast. “I didn’t figure you would.”

“Do you want to stay?”

“No. Too much has happened here, Syn, and I think we need some good in our lives.”
