He slips the ring on my finger and I choke back a sob of joy when it’s fully in place. I take the other ring from him, and twirl it around between my index finger and thumb.
“I - I didn’t,” I stammer, “I didn’t get the opportunity to prepare anything,” everyone laughs and Travis swipes my tears away with his knuckle.
“It’s always been you Travis,” I look up at him. “Ride or die. I vow to be yours. I vow to love you across lifetimes,” I whisper as I slide the ring on his finger.
“Okay you two crazies kiss now already!” Rico laughs.
Wrapping an arm around my waist, Travis pulls me in and plants his lips on mine. His tongue sweeps against mine, and he gives no fucks whether the kiss is appropriate for the crowd in front of us, and it’s one of the many things I love about him.
“Alright, alright you crazy kids. I had Declan go all out with catering for this, and I’m eating for two so as much as I want to head inside and eat. Can you please dance first?” Echo laughs as Declan slides his arm around her lower back.
The song starts playing, and I recognize it instantly, from a long time ago. Another lifetime. Travis spins me around and I move in close pressing against his chest.
Sniffling, I look up at him, “You’re kinda crazy you know?”
“Crazy about you, Mrs. Price,” he grins.
Resting my head against his chest, I close my eyes and listen to his heart beat. All of this might seem small to anyone else, but to me? It’s pretty fucking perfect. A grand gesture of epic proportions, surrounded by the only people I need in this world.
“You know,” I sigh, “I remember not so long ago, you called us…what was it? Wayward Souls?”
“Yeah… Not anymore Spence,” he moves a stray hair from my face as we sway to the music, and I understand. Our souls aren’t just floating through life as stubborn, unpredictable forces anymore. Our souls are one, made up of the same matter, tied together across lifetimes, destined to always find each other in the end.
