Page 100 of Hiding Desire

“I’m dying.”

I giggled again. I told him I had a special surprise for tonight, and he had to keep his hands off me after the weekend. It had been a long week full of sexual tension, and his turning up looking gorgeous and smelling yummy with his erection pressed against me was testing my resolve.

“My dick is going to fall off,” he groaned.

“You’ll enjoy it more later.”

I’d bought a latex outfit and some massive heels to match, and I was going to show off my new tattoo. It matched the rose he had inked over his heart. This one was at the top of my leg, with Sean’s name and an Irish saying inked through it. He would go feral when he saw his name on me, and I wanted to dance for him and show him.

He bought this practice and filled it with incredible female dentists. One was my supervisor because I only qualified last year, so I couldn’t set up independently. It worked perfectly, though, as I loved my colleagues. We joined forces with Chloe’s charity for victims of domestic violence and ran a free clinic on a Friday for women and children who registered through her organisation. The rest of the week was a mix of clients, including some celebrities, who came for facial aesthetics and cosmetic dentistry. It was a dream come true, and I was learning from some of the best in the field.

It also meant that the clinic ran with and without me. After my first year, we planned to take a few months to travel and see some of the world I’d never visited, including a visit to México and a distant cousin of my mamá’s that I’d found.

“I’ll go mad before then without a taste.” Sean peppered my neck with kisses.

This man was a menace with his persuasive techniques.

“You’ll live.”

“Do you remember when we first bought this place and we christened this chair?” He grinned salaciously, pointing at my dental chair.

“Yes.” I rubbed my thighs together at the memory.

“We should do that again.”

“Not today.”

He sighed. “I better have a dental check-up.”

Sean refused to see another dentist despite me telling him it was a conflict of interest.

He sat back in the chair and opened his mouth. Before I could tell him it wasn’t time for his check, something sparkly caught my eye. A diamond band was nestled between his mass of gold fillings and cheek. I pulled on a glove and hooked the ring out. It was a perfect circle of diamonds, creating a stunning eternity ring.

“Sean.” I gasped, snapping off my glove and sliding the ring on my finger.

“You like it?”

“It’s beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you.”

I kissed him, and he pulled me onto his lap.

“I cancelled the rest of your surgery.”

“You did what?”

“I had Avery ring them and tell them the next treatment is on me if they rebook, and they seemed to rush to accept. I’ve come to collect you. The Steel boys have lent me their chopper, and we are going out for a meal. Then I’m bringing you home for my dance.”

“You can’t just cancel my afternoon!” I said, secretly thrilled.

“I can do whatever I want. And I want my wife.” His intense gaze blazed into mine, and the arguments died on my lips.

We shared the decisions for the big things, and he’d grown far more open with me.

But I still loved it when he swept in and took charge of things like this.

“I’ve got nothing to wear.”

He grinned at me. “I have a dress in the car.”

“I guess I’m all out of excuses.” I laughed.

“That’s what I like to hear.”

He kissed me long and dirty, and I began to rethink the no-sex-at-work rule. He pulled back, smirking at the mess he’d made of me.

“Come on, let’s go.”

This was my life now: dentistry and diamonds. It was a far cry from my life a year ago, but it was something a girl could get used to.
