Exactly one second later, his mom approached him from behind, touching him on the shoulder in a greeting.

“Oh hey, Mom,” he said, standing up straight. “Where’s my kid?” As though she’d been summoned, Finley appeared at my side, instantly climbing up onto my lap again. “Ah, there she is. Have you been having fun with Ms. Devin, Fin?” Mason adjusted his tie.

“Uh huh. How come you can’t sit with us, Daddy?”

“Because I’ve got to hang out with the wedding party. But we can dance later, okay?” One of his hands remained on my chair, his thumb grazing my bare back. Mason didn’t seem to mind that his family could see this. Then again, from the way his mom and sister were behaving, they already suspected something, anyway.

Mason was pulled away by Owen’s brother, who needed his attention up by the head table. I turned around and scanned the room for Daya, spotting her near the bar throwing back a shot with Abigail, of all people. And then Abigail leaned in close to whisper in Daya’s ear, saying something that made her laugh. Were they flirting?

I wasn’t the only one observing them. Heath was sitting two tables over, watching them interact with furrowed brows. I wondered if he knew his date was bisexual. But with the flirty way she touched Daya’s arm as she spoke, it was pretty obvious.

This was going to be a long night.

Once all the typical wedding rituals were out of the way—the cake-cutting and bouquet toss and speeches—the energy in the room shifted. With the dancefloor open and free beer flowing, people were starting to get rowdy. I ditched my suit coat and rolled up my shirt sleeves, getting comfortable as I downed my second beer. I needed this night.

I kept close tabs on Kendall, who seemed to be having a good night herself. She took to the dancefloor with Finley, Daya, and Abigail. I almost dropped the beer bottle from my hands as I witnessed her take a shot with my sister. The two of them were hitting it off, just like I suspected they one day would—it was just happening sooner than I predicted.

Relatives confronted me all night, eager to ask about my new venture working for Owen. Thanks to both of our mothers, word had spread pretty fast. The first few times I spoke about it, I downplayed the job like it was just some temporary thing until I found more serious work. But my confidence grew as the night went on. “I’m Owen’s new creative director,” I declared with confidence, pushing my dad’s voice out of my head. And most of my cousins and aunts and uncles seemed genuinely happy for me—maybe even jealous. After all, they were stuck at 9-5 jobs they hated while I got to work alongside my favorite cousin. My best friend. They should be jealous.

The night was perfect.

I had a decent buzz going.

I just watched Kendall reject Xander.

Finley was having one heck of a good time.

Owen just sealed the deal with the love of his life.

And on top of everything, Kendall looked absolutely ravishing in that dress.

I tugged on her arm on the dancefloor and brought my mouth to her ear. “Meet me in the groom’s suite at the end of the corridor in five minutes.” I didn’t wait to see the reaction on her face before slipping out of the reception hall. Whistling, I made my way down the corridor to the room where Owen and the rest of us got dressed earlier in the day. It was a spacious room with every accommodation imaginable—brown leather seating, a wardrobe rack, a refreshment bar, and a private bathroom with a basket of all the essentials—deodorant, toothpicks, a lint roller, and some aspirin. And condoms, which Jake and Xander had ambitiously stuffed in their pockets that afternoon. I smiled as I reached for one, knowing what I was about to do. If those guys only knew.

Kendall didn’t wait five minutes. She slipped inside the door soon after I did, closing it behind her and leaning against the frame. “Jeez, this room is bigger than my bedroom.”

I reached around her to lock the door. “Did anyone see you come this way?”

“No,” she said, swallowing as I put my hands on either side of her body, effectively pinning her against the back of the door. It felt like it had been so long since I’d touched her. Too long. I was getting hard already.

“Good,” I said, brushing my lips against hers. Slowly, I brought my hand to her throat, curling my fingers around her neck. Her lips subtly curved upwards, letting me know she liked where this was going. “Now take off your panties.”

Kendall obeyed, sticking her hands up her dress to pull her underwear all the way past her high heels. She kicked them aside before bringing her hands to my chest.

“That’s a good girl,” I murmured, pushing her dress up with one hand. I slipped my fingers between her thighs until I felt the heat of her, stopping before I got too close. I wanted her to yearn for it. So I focused on the way I kissed her along her collarbone, listening to her sigh when my beard tickled her skin. “What should we do in here?”

“I think you know what I want to do, Mason.”

I slid my hand a little higher up her leg, my thumb just grazing her warmth. “Really? I’m not sure.”

Kendall responded by lowering herself onto my hand—and just in case I wasn’t getting the message, she enclosed her fingers around my wrist, forcing me to touch her along her slit. I let out a laugh—this woman wasn’t subtle at all. Slowly, I rubbed my middle finger between her lips before slipping it inside her. Kendall moaned against my mouth. “Oh!”

Another finger found its way inside of her, and I pulled both of them in and out to get her good and ready for me. Just when her breathing started to pick up, I grabbed her by the arm, nudging her toward the leather chaise lounge in the middle of the room. Kendall didn’t roll over onto her back—she remained upright on her knees while I knelt behind her, kissing the back of her neck as I cupped her breasts over the satin fabric of her dress.

“What if someone tries to come in here?” she whispered, reaching around to run her fingers through my hair.
