“That wasn’t a plan. That was fear.”

He swallows hard. “I know. I’m asking you to forgive me.” He takes a step forward. “And I swear to you, Luna McNeill, I will love you day in and day out the way that you deserve to be loved as long as I’m alive and breathing on this earth.”

My throat is tight and I’m nodding, needing this so much. Needing him.

“I need you, too, Owen. I can be happy without you, but I’d rather be happy with you.”

He reaches me, and he brushes his thumb over my lip. His green eyes are warm, filled with love and contrition and desire. “I can’t be happy without you. If you don’t take me back, I’ll be doomed to live a miserable and lonely life of bachelorhood. Babies will cry when they see me. Dogs will growl. I’ll eat grocery store baked goods.”

That makes me give a watery laugh. “That is a very tragic picture you paint.”

“It’s no good without you, baby.” He turns and gestures with his shoulder. “It’s no good without these guys in my life, either. I love the way they love you, I truly do. We’re a team. Team Macaron.”

Now I’m laughing and crying at the same time. But I shake my head. “No.”

His face falls. “No?”

“No, we can’t be Team Macaron. That’s my safe word, remember? That stops everything. And the things we’re all going to do together need to never stop.”

He smiles. “So true.”

“We need to brainstorm something else for us.” I gesture to the piping bag in his hand. “Something with icing. A nod to baking and hockey.”

He gives a sigh of relief. “So… you forgive me?”

“I forgive you. I could use a few more compliments and a little bit of guilt gifting, but I do forgive you. I’m in, but only if Cam and Alexsei agree. This is a decision all of us make together.”

I lace my fingers through Owen’s because I’ve missed the feel of him. His warm, callused hands, and his protective frame. I look over at Alexsei and Cam. “I love you both so much. But we can only do this if you both want it.”

They deserve to have a say.

Alexsei gives me a smile. “I’m in. Whatever makes you happy, baby.” He gives Owen a little shake on the shoulders from behind. “I’ve missed you, big guy. It’s not the same without you.”

I never doubted that Alexsei would be agreeable to whatever I want. He’s my easygoing, appreciative, golden retriever of a boyfriend. I give him a grateful smile. He winks at me.

Cam is my wild card. He’s been angry with Owen for hurting me. It’s been simmering under the surface ever since that night at the bar. It will take him longer to forgive and I understand his perspective.

But Cam nods firmly, with no hesitation. “I’m in. This is the way it should be. The four of us.”

My tears fall now. I’m overwhelmed with joy and love for my men.

I let myself throw my arms around Owen’s neck and he pulls me right off the floor up into a tight, loving hug.

“I’m never letting you go ever again,” he murmurs against the side of my head as he peppers me with kisses. “God, I love you so much.”

“I love you, too.”

Then he kisses me, and everything that’s been wrong is made right again.

After several long, deep sweeps of his tongue against mine, I’m sighing and sliding back down to the floor. “By the way, why are you all holding piping bags, exactly?”

“Well, I did come up with an idea,” Owen says. “When Cam said you were baking.”

I lift an eyebrow. “Oh, really?”

“I know baking is wrapped up with a lot of emotions for you,” he says.

My heart melts. My guys pay attention to me. They listen, they observe. They care about what’s important to me and what makes me tick.
