“Your lunch is here.”

Utah felt her brows furrow. “I didn’t order lunch.”

“Well, someone did. Your name’s on the bag.”

She cautiously took the bag and opened it like there might be a bomb inside.

PJ’s logo—the ice cream parlor Liam had taken her to twice—was on top of the container that she could tell by the smell held a cheeseburger and fries.

He remembered.

She couldn’t help but smile.

“Was there a shake?”

Leo shook his head. “That’s all that was dropped off.”

Just then, Kyle appeared in the doorway holding a cup that had PJ’s name splashed all over it.

“This was just dropped for you. It was supposed to come with your lunch.”

Leo scowled at her. “I thought you didn’t order this. How did you know there was a shake?”

“Because that’s what I always get with my cheeseburger. The person I think sent this knows that.”

“Must be nice, new chair, lunch…” Leo mumbled and walked off.

“I’ll let you enjoy your lunch. There’s a microwave in the break room if you need to heat up your food.”

“Thanks.”

Kyle turned to leave, and she called out his name.

He turned around with raised eyebrows.

“Um, where is the breakroom?”

He grinned and tilted his head. “Follow me.”

His phone buzzed in his pocket as he sat across from Sylvia, the new Ob/Gyn nurse in the cafeteria. She was a nice woman, and he knew she’d be great with new parents, but he couldn’t help but think as he looked across the table at her, I should be having a PJ’s cheeseburger with Utah instead of being here.

He discreetly took his phone from his pocket and read the message on the screen, trying not to smile as he did.

Honeybee: You are the sweetest, most thoughtful man on the planet! Thank you for sending me PJ’s!

He’d reply to her as soon as he finished lunch with Sylvia—which he hoped was soon.

Thankfully, she threw her napkin on her plate and said, “Thank you for lunch. I enjoyed meeting you.”

He pushed his chair from the table and stood.

“Likewise. I meant what I said, it’s not just a lame cliché. Feel free to stop by my office anytime.”

He waited for her to stand, and they dropped their trays at the little return window. Like yesterday, people seemed to pay attention to the new face he was with.
