They’d made a huge deal about one of their own receiving the recognition a few weeks ago when it was announced, Liam just wanted to remind the group—again.
Parker hung back. “Thanks. I need to change into my tux and get to the hotel. I have a new butt plug for Alexandra that I wanted to give to her before dinner.”
Liam chuckled. “And you call me kinky?”
“Am I wrong?”
“No,” Liam admitted. “Utah has a punishment coming to her via a remote-controlled vibrator that I wanted to put in place before dinner, so I’m right behind you.”
“God, we are perverted bastards.”
They stepped into the hall and Parker continued, “Utah said you guys are staying tonight at the hotel, so do you think you’ll be up for brunch tomorrow?”
“Yeah. I want Utah to talk to Alexandra about volunteering with ARF. Starting Monday, she’s going to be working from home more, so her schedule will be more flexible. I mean, not that it isn’t already—she’s not an hourly employee, but she won’t have to worry about keeping up appearances with her coworkers.”
“How’s that going?”
“She’s already repaired three areas where she said we were vulnerable, and Roger thinks she walks on water, so, I’d say pretty good so far.”
Parker hit the down button for the elevator.
“I have to admit, I had my reservations about bringing her on board, but I think you did the right thing. Better to put her skills to use for good than waste them in jail.”
“You’re just saying that because you want her to volunteer with your girlfriend’s rescue.”
“Anything to help Alexandra be home when I am… especially since we decided she’s staying indefinitely.”
Liam felt his face split into a wide grin, and he clutched his friend’s shoulder. “Congrats, man. But it’s not exactly like this is a surprise. I could have told you a month ago that’s how this was going to go.”
“Well, I’d like Utah and Alexandra to get to know each other better. It’d be good for her to have a friendly face when we go to hospital events.”
“I don’t know how many of those she’ll be going to. I’m taking your advice and trying to keep things between us discreet.”
“Yeah, but that’s only until she finishes probation.”
“She’s moving out once she finishes probation.”
Parker patted Liam’s shoulder as his elevator arrived. “Yeah, sure, big guy. Just like Alexandra was moving out at the end of thirty days.”
“It’s not the same thing.”
Parker laughed as he stepped into the car and hit the button for his floor. “If you say so.”
He was still wearing a smirk as the elevator doors closed.
Liam shook his head and headed back to his office.
He didn’t say so. But four months was all he was guaranteed with her, and he wasn’t going to let himself think she’d want more if it wasn’t court ordered. She wanted kids, for fuck’s sake.
But they’d agreed last night that their time together was going to be spent like they were a real couple.
A kinky couple with an expiration date.
But a couple, nonetheless.
