She turned over and hugged her pillow, mumbling, “Ten more minutes.”

“Okay,” he said in a sing-song voice, “but if we’re late, you’re going to pay for it.”

That prompted her to open one eye for a second, then close it again as she burrowed deeper under the covers.

“I’m willing to risk it.”

God, he fucking loved her.

Twenty minutes later, he was sitting on the balcony, reading the newspaper on his phone, when he heard her exclaim, “Shit!” as she threw the covers off her and hopped out of bed.

Within thirty seconds, the shower started. He considered joining her, but then he’d have to take the blame if they were late.

Liam had kept her up late last night, so he understood her desire to sleep in, but he wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to punish her, either.

Edging her the entire time of last night’s party had the desired effect. She was horny as fuck when they got back to the room.

He thought she’d looked like a siren all dolled up wearing her new dress, but that was nothing compared to when she strutted toward him in nothing but her sexy shoes and collar and dropped to her knees.

Her lipstick on his cock had been even hotter than he’d imagined.

Hotel sex—he’d definitely recommend it.

She stood just inside the doors leading to the balcony, toweling her hair dry.

“I got the Riley McCormick ick off me, thank god.”

“There was probably some of my dried cum between your thighs, too.”

She laughed out loud. “And I think you might have got some in my hair. Your ick is good ick, his was just creepy.”

“The rumor is he’s tied to the Irish mafia.”

She wrinkled her nose as she contemplated what he said. “I guess I could see that. He must have legitimate businesses, too, though, to have a spot on the hospital board?”

“He lists his occupation as ‘professional real estate developer’.”

“More like, professional weirdo.”

That made him laugh out loud. “I didn’t see that in his bio.”

“Well, if it suddenly appears someday, pretend we didn’t have this conversation.”

“Consider it forgotten.”

He was fairly positive she was just teasing, but he didn’t want to pursue it. While Riley was his loudest critic on the board, Liam never gave him much thought. But he could see how a woman would find him off-putting. The man had a lecherous vibe about him.

He stayed on the balcony, out of her way, until five minutes before they should head down.

She came out of the bathroom looking like she stepped out of a 1950s magazine, wearing a bright yellow sundress with white polka dots and matching solid yellow cardigan. Her hair was in a high ponytail, and she wore the collar with the diamond honeybee charm.

“With five minutes to spare!” she proclaimed triumphantly.

The corner of his mouth turned up. “Are you packed?”

Her shoulders slumped. “Aw, crap. You didn’t tell me I had to be packed!”

She was right, he hadn’t. But he also hadn’t thought she’d be ready on time. He’d had to put his thumb on the scale somehow.
