“You’ve got five minutes, baby.”

He fired off a text to Parker letting him know they were going to be a few minutes late.

“I still don’t think I should be punished,” she grumbled as they exited their room ten minutes later. “We aren’t even taking the bags!”

“If you think the punishment doesn’t fit the crime when you receive it, we can have a discussion then.”

She slipped her hand into the crook of his arm as they strolled down the hallway. “Okay, that sounds fair.”

“I’ve told you before, baby. Your house arrest isn’t supposed to be fair.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

He was so full of it. He’d been more than fair with her. Probably more than she deserved.

“I don’t think staying here is allowed under my house arrest,” she quipped.

“We could make the case this was a hospital function.”

“You have an answer for everything.”

“Except how to get you to behave.”

She gave a defiant, “Never!”

He chuckled and shook his head. “I’m going to start keeping track of how many times you don’t call me Sir when you should…”

“You know I don’t do it to be disrespectful.”

“Just to be sassy,” he interjected.

She raised her voice to talk over him. “I don’t do it to be disrespectful. It just doesn’t come naturally to me when I’m not naked.”

“I think you just solved my problem, little bee. Always keep you naked.”

Chapter Forty-Nine

Liam

Utah and Alexandra hit it off, like Liam and Parker both had hoped they would, and Utah was able to fit a few volunteer shifts for ARF into her schedule. But he knew she was still working more than she would if she just went into the hospital.

When he brought that to her attention, she replied, “It’s only my second week working from home. Besides, I have to make up for when I go to ARF.”

“You more than make up for it, baby.”

Once he cleaned up the kitchen after Friday-night dinner, he sat down next to her on the couch where she was watching a sitcom he wasn’t familiar with. He moved her laptop from the ottoman so he could put his feet up.

“I can’t imagine sitting on the couch while you work all day is good for your back.”

She curled her feet under her legs and moved closer to him.

“I’m okay. I do yoga, remember?”

He winked and gave her a salacious grin. “How could I forget?”
