“Fuuuuck.”

He really, really hated Riley now. He wanted nothing more than to reach under her skirt and find out for himself how wet she was.

He almost said, fuck it, and did it anyway, but then he remembered she just needed to get through one more day.

“You better go, baby. Before I fuck you right here on my desk.”

She turned and dragged her fingertips across the edge of his desk while giving him a coy smile.

“I guess I’ll just have to settle for the kitchen counter, then.”

An image of her spread wide on his granite countertops popped in his mind, and he bit back a groan.

“Go!” he barked with a grin.

“I’ll see you later, Sir,” she purred before opening the door.

A minute later, Riley appeared, and his boner instantly deflated.

At least he could thank the man for that.

Chapter Sixty

Utah

Her mood improved after her visit with Liam, and she smiled throughout the last repair request of the day. It was for an assistant on the fifth floor, not far from Parker’s office.

She thought about stopping by his office and saying hi, but she needed to get back to her desk and go through her final report for tomorrow’s board meeting one more time.

Once she pushed the down button by the elevator, seemingly out of nowhere, Riley McCormick materialized like a bad spirit.

Utah schooled her face, hoping her disdain for the man didn’t show in her expression.

“We meet again.”

She gave a polite smile. “So we do.”

“I’m just curious, Ms. Douglas. You said you and Liam are just friends?”

She looked up at the arrow buttons above the elevator doors, willing one of them to light up as she reiterated, “Just friends.”

The car appeared and the doors opened. She was about to hustle inside when she noticed it was empty.

Fuck.

The last thing she wanted was to be alone in close quarters with this guy.

After a slight hesitation, she got on and was relieved when he made no attempt to join her.

The relief was short-lived, however, when his hand stopped the doors from closing, and he smugly said, “Do you make it a habit of giving all your friends your underwear then? Because if so, sign me up to be your bestie.”

She swallowed hard, trying to keep the bile in her stomach from coming up her esophagus.

He stepped into the elevator, and she said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Really? Because I couldn’t help but notice you didn’t have any panty lines in your skirt after you walked out of your ‘meeting’ with the CEO.” He used air quotes when he said meeting. “And you most definitely had them before you walked in.”

“You were looking at my ass?”
