“I’m sorry for taking the collar off without permission, Sir. I couldn’t get comfortable with it on—the charm kept poking me every time I laid on my stomach. I didn’t want to wake you to ask if it would be okay if I removed it while I slept. I mean, given the circumstances, I didn’t think you’d mind.”

His eyes shimmered with amusement. “What circumstances?”

She shrugged. “Well, I was lying right next to you after we’d had sex, so I obviously wasn’t going anywhere. And it made it difficult for me to sleep.”

Liam was quiet for a minute, as if mulling over what she’d told him before he spoke.

“You’re right—the last thing I would want is for you to be uncomfortable and unable to get your rest. And I appreciate your thoughtfulness in not wanting to wake me. I should have done a better job of checking in with you, and I’m sorry for neglecting that.”

Wait, he’s apologizing to me?

“Well, to be fair, Sir, it didn’t bother me until fell asleep. So, even if you would have checked in with me, I would have said everything was fine.”

He gave her a wink. “That’s true. Thank you.” He didn’t, however, move to put it back on her, and instead asked, “Should we take Phoebe and go get breakfast?”

“That sounds nice. Let me get dressed.”

Utah put her feet on the floor but paused before she got off the bed, to give him an opportunity to put her collar back on her.

He didn’t.

He was dressed and downstairs with Phoebe while he waited for Utah to finish getting ready.

His breath caught when she finally appeared wearing a yellow sundress with a bodice that hugged her body tightly, showcasing her tiny waist and perfect tits, then flared out in a skirt that fell to just above her knee. The tan sandals with multi-colored flowers on the straps rounded out her outfit. Her hair was down around her shoulders, and it looked like she’d curled it. She even had makeup on, and her shiny, pink lips were begging to be kissed.

“You look beautiful, honeybee.”

She glanced down at her dress and smoothed out invisible wrinkles when she said, “Thank you.”

“Are you ready?”

Her glance cast back toward the stairs like she’d forgotten something, but she replied, “I am.”

Utah was quiet on the drive except to answer his questions, and to those, she responded with using as few words as possible. She also kept her gaze straight ahead or out the passenger window, even when she had to know he was looking at her while they waited at a stoplight.

“Something wrong?”

“Nope.” She popped the ‘P’, letting him know something was indeed wrong.

“I’m sorry—you might want to try that again.”

“No, Sir.”

She said the right words, but with an exorbitant amount of sass in her tone.

It wasn’t until he pulled into the parking lot of an empty building with a “For Sale” sign out front that she finally turned to look at him.

Liam put the car in park, took off his seat belt, and unclicked hers, as well.

Reaching over, he put his finger under her chin to force her to look at him when he ordered, “Start talking.”

Her lips were pursed when she defiantly stared back.

“There’s nothing to say.”
