LUNA

Three months later

It’s Hunter’s birthday.

He’s the first one to celebrate a birthday since we got married, so it’s exciting for me to spoil him. Especially since he’s always spoiling me.

We spent the last few months going crazy with my bucket list.

We stood under a waterfall in the Seychelles, he encouraged me to enter an art competition while we were in Japan, we made soap in Bali, attended a music festival in Holland, and a masquerade ball in Venice.

We’ve had life experiences, and now I only have a handful of items left on my list to do.

As we both have the day off, I wanted to make today special for him, so I woke earlier than usual and enlisted Paige’s help to create a birthday breakfast feast of Hunter’s favorite foods.

We’ve taken all the food into the sitting room, and Paige has laid it out on a long table we placed in the center.

Next to it sit all the presents I wanted him to open first to kickstart his day.

Once we’re done decorating the place, the two of us stand back and admire our work.

The room looks absolutely stunning in the blue and beige color scheme I chose for the tablecloth, the throws for the chairs, and the ceramic food platters.

The food looks even better. Paige cooked a breakfast inspired by all the countries we’ve traveled to.

“Thank you so much for doing this. I think he’s going to love it.” I clasp my hands with excitement.

Paige nods enthusiastically. “He will.”

“What’s all this?” Hunter’s voice drifts around us, and we turn around to find him standing at the door.

“Surprise!” Paige and I both shout.

The vibrant smile spreading across my husband’s face tells me we did a good job.

“You guys shouldn’t have.”

“But you deserve it, dear,” Paige offers, walking up to him to give him a hug. “Happy birthday, Hunter. Another year with another set of dreams and wishes.”

“Thank you, Paige.”

It’s my turn next, so I hug him.

“Happy birthday.” I give him a quick kiss. The kind we reserve for when we’re in public—with the exception of that time at the restaurant several moons ago.

“You two enjoy your breakfast.” Paige chuckles. “I’ll be out in the garden if you need me. Have fun.”

“We will.”

The moment she leaves, Hunter pulls me in for a real kiss. The dirty, hungry kind we share when we’re alone.

“I want you for my birthday present.”

“You have me, Mr. Le Blanche.” I giggle as he moves to my neck and nibbles on my skin. “But breakfast first, and you have to open your presents.”

I pull away from his kisses and tug on his hand.

“Okay, Mrs. Le Blanche, have it your way. I’ll eat breakfast, then I’ll eat you.”
