Smiling, we walk to the end of the sofa and sit. Like I knew he would, he grabs a croissant first. Next, he’ll get the coffee with the hazelnut syrup in it and a donut, then he’ll grab more croissants.

I learned months ago that he has a sweet tooth like no one I’ve ever met, but he disguises it well because he also eats healthier than anyone I know. That’s how he manages to look like he’s never consumed sugar in his life.

I reach for the first present and hand it to him.

A lopsided grin lights up his face, and he glances at the rest of presents stacked beside us. “You got me all of those?”

“Yes. Today, I get to spoil you.”

“You spoil me every day, wife.”

“Today will be more special than any other.” I have an extra special present for him that I know he’ll love.

“Then I can’t wait to see what you have planned for me.”

He tears open the present and smiles with fascination at the drawing I did for him of him.

It’s the first manga drawing I’ve done in several months. I didn’t have the spark to draw until I thought it would make a nice present for him.

I’ve drawn him sitting on a boat with his muscles and tattoos on show with cherry blossoms floating around him.

“This is amazing. I love this.” He beams as he holds it up.

“I’m so glad you like it.”

“I love it. Thank you. Now I have a piece of your talent all for myself.” He leans forward and kisses me.

“Open this next.” I hand him another present. The main one. It has several little presents wrapped inside it that are all pieces of a puzzle I want him to put together.

Hunter opens the present with the same excitement as before, but confusion furrows his brows when he holds up the pair of baby socks I packed in. There are a few more things like that in there.

“Okay, what are you up to, woman?” Hunter looks at me.

“Open the rest.”

He picks up another mini present and opens it. That one has a pacifier. The next a teething ring and the last a mini human-sized T-shirt. I found a cute little one with a cartoon shark on it.

He smiles on seeing it, but when his hands still, I know he’s solved the puzzle. I’m sure he already did with the socks.

Hunter looks at me with awe in his eyes that reflects the light from his soul.

“Luna…”

“I’m pregnant.”

The smile on his face is the kind you’d want to frame and seal to your mind forever. That way, you’d remember it always, even if you went blind.

“Come here.” He reaches for me and I go to him.

He pulls me onto his lap and presses his face to mine.

“We’re pregnant,” he whispers over my skin.

“We’re pregnant. Six weeks, so not that long.”

“I’ll take the greatest care of you.”

“You already do.”
